The Yes applies to all photographers who have to look for increased sharpness and brilliance, attention to edge blurring, enlarge sections of photos or simply take pleasure in even better result. Not only the imaging performance of the previously existing E-mount lenses is promoted, also the power of old manual lenses is substantially improved. I have photographed in the last week with the same objective under identical conditions compared with rows 5 and Nex Nex 5N and found a significant increase in sharpness and contrast dynamic behavior. Such comparison ranks only work with fixed cycle in manual mode, as the two cameras very differently in the automatic exposure. The Nex 5N accesses eg much faster before in higher ISO ranges. However, really fast - except on paper and in the lab measurable milliseconds - has not become the Nex 5N felt.
The No applies to all those who were satisfied with the already existing photo quality, the camera mainly under daylight conditions, use on vacation or for Famlienfotos. The Nex 5 is a very good camera, and if one does not put the photos side by side, you can be very pleased with this performance. Who is not Fotoenthusiast, so no perfectionist who constantly switched to the even better resolution, the finer drawing (like me), is in good hands with the Sony Nex 5 or Nex 3.
What, however, surprisingly excites me is the touchscreen and for several reasons. On the one hand, of course, is the access to the many features in the menu much easier, since a touch is enough and they no longer have to click through via scroll wheel. This is much faster. A bucking or poor response I have not observed. This works fine. Add to this the ingenious function of activated auto focus that lets you define an image area by clicking, to which the camera sets up, even if it swings. This could be achieved previously only with shutter button halfway down to some extent. And prima met the touchscreen his task when viewing the paintings, if you have enlarged the photo and want to look at individual sections by pointing a finger.
NEGATIVE:
Clicking on Video: Yes, it exists. One of Asia took time apart and some small metal rods blamed the loose in the housing at shaking moves the Nex. This is an own goal from Sony, as there are many potential buyers who would be particularly interested in the enormous video features of this camera scare. But honestly - shaking and gruff pivoting movements should be avoided in any case rather when filming surely. Thus, the click is actually a warning sign of hasty movements, but only cause later in the viewing of filmed headache. So I do not understand the outcry which haunts the forums. It clicks when you move the camera more - so what? You can hear it in any case only if there is hardly any noise otherwise. Camera steady hold = better picture and no click. Nevertheless a series production errors, which should not be.
Basically defective at the Sony Nex 3-5 models I find attaching the flash solved. That's a fumbling with Plastikkläppchen on, rotate wheel and folding, which is cumbersome and prone. The problem with the Nex 5N - as mentioned many times - that not all batteries are accepted by other providers. What previously worked well with the Nex 5, does not necessarily in the Nex 5N. And of course, the range of lenses for the E-mount is still equipped very weak. The likely the largest and most incomprehensible weakness of Sony to be in the market, so then many still opt for Olympus, Samsung or Panasonic, especially as the kit lens 18-55mm though is decent but the sensor performance - particularly that of the Nex 5N - does not do justice is. The 18-200mm is the petite body of Nex contrast a bit monstrous. Although the available adapter LA-EA2 lens expands the park, but it must first clunky and visually succeeded little and secondly resorted priced out all the stops.
Conclusion: for me was worth it in any case the 'Hardware Update' for Nex 5N. I shoot a lot in low light conditions and have to rely on the ISO range 1600-3200. Here brings the Nex 5N a whole lot more out. With manual 1.2 or 1.4 lenses I can make good photos even there, where all others have to pick up the flash.
