The camera is stable on the screen, but I can well imagine that in thin displays, such as those of slim notebooks, perhaps could be a little shaky.
The video and sound recording quality of the camera seems to be all right, but there is, at least on Windows 8.1, a few problems because the actually camera software (LifeCam) does not appear to be executable: While the installation is still functioning without error, the corresponding files are installed, then can be but do not open, so there are no other configuration options for camera (resolution, FPS, etc.) are.
On the other hand, the camera is recognized without any problems from Win 8.1 as just such and also the microphone works well in applications outside of the "Camera" app.
