Hard to believe - but the Sony PS3 Wireless Headset beats the Sennheiser headphones again to classes (difference of superb stereo sound to überragendem, galactic awesome surround sound - even if that is only virtually, that works perfectly). It has thus really a fully immersive, crystal clear, dynamic, very intense surround sound experience (tested with Mass Effect 2).
The quality and workmanship of the headset is very good, the Micro can be pulled out, if you do not need, you can turn it off and push them together so that it does not bother and you also still save battery power (fully charged battery lasts biszu 10 hrs., Charging USB cable takes about 2 hours). The headset is also located at the hour long sessions comfortable and pleasant, and it looks pretty cool too - perfectly fits the design for PS3, just an original Sony product. It has an On / Off + Micro Mute switch, a surround / stereo mode switch, and two sliders for volume and fader between Voice Chat and PS3 sound. Everything was very well thought out, intuitive controlled with the left hand, also in Game without looking. Plus it hides itself by pressing the control buttons / slider briefly on screen display for visual feedback of settings. The headset is optimized for the PS3 since Sony has of course an advantage over the competition. In the Micro a small status LED is installed that uses color (red / blue / purple) and lighting or flashing various operating states and the charge status of the headset displays (as described in the accompanying Quick Start Guide, this was for me only English / French ).
Once the headset is charged (Mini USB cable not included, which can be used by the PS3), start-up is fast and easy - USB plug into one of the PS3 USB sockets stuck, switch on the headset, if necessary settings for the headset and the Sound adjust the PS3 menu, that's all. My PS3 has the latest firmware 4.1 and is also connected via Wi-Fi with my Fritz box (the headset uses the 2.4 GHz band for wireless communications). In my apartment and at least 6 additional wireless networks from neighbors can be registered in different thicknesses and on different channels. Had concerns that characterized the headset could be disrupted, but luckily for me is not the case, no noise. Hab however not extensively tested the voice chat feature in online games, while there is indeed increasingly to wireless traffic with its own router.
Wireless headset is definitely a dream - wired one is somehow limited by the cable (pitfall problem if you have pets, and it bothers even if it is long enough anyway something while playing). Genial that you can use the headset to move freely on the head, for example, times run fast to the fridge ... ;-)
Further advantages of the headset:
-I need to PS3 gaming my AV receiver no longer turn (he drags in Standby the PS3 signal via HDMI to TV by)
can -man on the PS3 also DVDs / Blue Rays and other multimedia content to enjoy in perfect surround sound without disturbing others
-The headset works with the USB connector also to PCs and Macs (but have read only in stereo mode, not surround)
Minor drawbacks could be that one supposedly (also available in the manual) not two of these headsets can connect simultaneously to a PS3 (but have not tested this), and that supposedly can not hear your own voice through the headphones in the Voice Chat (hab I have not tested). The battery charging function could have been solved more elegant and functional (eg a holder where you parked when not use the headset while charging).
Rating full 5 stars for function, plus an extra for quality / design, and another for Price / Performance: 7/5
Never again without ..!
