German refreshingly different

In the shadow of Sizarr of Landau and the legitimate praise up to the "album of the year" seems to be the breakthrough of another young band from the south too long in coming. This time there are gifted musicians from Munich, a metropolis that is more associated with Oktoberfest beer as a modern sound. Like their colleagues Pfaelzer also just survived the Abi, one wonders how they could lie still time for such a high quality debut next to the school.

They take some time and music were live with English songs quite a local size. Now they swing completely in German to - but it's not the language alone that makes this work. Because they do not follow a general trend around Clueso, Tim Bendzko & Co - which unfortunately now almost nervous thanks format radio Overflow but have created a very unique, new sound. The singers' cries, without screaming, "the bass press hard guitars alternate with dubstep synths and loud beats. The lyrics are far from any clichés and kitsch - sometimes clearly, sometimes ambiguous but always without Weltschmerz- and lovesick posturing to be encouraged by German texts quickly.

Only the voice is also unique as risky - there is a danger that this will in the long run on the nerve, because singer Fabian Bottler rarely comes to rest. However, this album will not be heard in the evening by the fireplace, but loud and turned up with Bass also - probably only live to beat.

So my conclusion is double-edged from one hand, I wish them the commercial success (the no glass ball to be Deuter can not fail), on the other hand, I fear the wear caused by the above mentioned format radio. But "The Exclusive" have already now with more than 18 years reinvented, it will probably succeed if necessary next time. Berlin must in any case wrap up warm - now the Süddeutsche come.
