Alchemy / Dire Straits Live (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Mark Knopfler - Dire Straits.
This combination you will probably never be able to separate. One of the reasons this album is.
Knopfler shows in this live recording its class so impressively that you probably do not want to take from the players this CD. At least I'm doing it this way.
Disc 1 contains a very good live version of the all-time hits Sultans of Swing, in which the guitar solos are not intrusive, but still perfect.
Once Upon A Time In The West is another perfect gepielte version of a classic.
Disc 2 contains the best for me Dire Straits song next Sultans of Swing and Brothers in Arms: Telegraph Road.
Knopfler sings this song a bit bored, but the solos are so so impressive that they are addictive.
(Yes, this is a fan.)
The final hymn is the Local Hero Theme Going Home, which with this, has never belonged to me, percussion accompaniment opens a whole dimension of instrumental music. A cult rock song without words.
All in all this is for me the best Dire Straits album and definitely should be in each drawer.
Note: The small number of song should not scare you. Both CD's are not really long, I think about 46 minutes, but the songs are embellished by Knopfler and colleagues with such long solos etc that they have to do with the album versions only slightly.
A real piece of rock and roll history.
