Well, now it's there and you can not say that Kendrick is linked to his first album. The sound is the predominant part of jazz, funk and soul elements and sounds sometimes not so after today's Hip Hop sound. But that's not alone the reason why this album is so great. The guest list fits the sound of the album and therefore the album of great artists like Bilal, James Fauntleroy or Ronald Isley is refined. I can not imagine that this album is celebrated the same way as his first album to me. To be honest I find it also difficult to recommend a specific track to a listen time.
