The image format

I had earlier a 20-inch monitor in the format 4: 3. The switch to 16: 9 format has the advantage that the screen fits perfectly for watching films. Often, 16: 9 screens, however, dismissed as unfit for office applications because of their low height. However, this impression I can not confirm. The Eizo is higher in both of the resolution, as well as the outer dimensions than my previous 20 inch 4: 3 screen, so one Din A4 page can be displayed legibly (The display is higher than A4). Moreover, by the gain in width, it is side by side represent possible 2 pages or programs and productively use. The annoying jumping between pages, which often disrupts the workflow, thus can be omitted. Some web pages are displayed, however due to the high horizontal resolution only as a strip in the middle of the screen when they are optimized for screen widths of 1200 pixels. Physical / ergonomics

The monitor comes in a simple matte plastic and dispense with the unspeakable piano lacquer look. The panel itself is non-reflective. Reducing the screen brightness does not lead to many other monitors to a quiet and very high but still unpleasant whistling. That would have been a reason for me to return the device immediately.
Image Quality
============
The subjective (first) impression is that the image is very sharp and the colors are a bit crisper than other monitors. However, these are not measurable and precise specifications and is certainly in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, I will at least try other aspects of image quality to describe something objective:
For viewing angles one can only say that there is no significant dependence of image brightness and the color of the viewing angle. So it's not a problem if you take the side of the screen looks the brightness remains.
The reaction time is 6ms sufficiently short to be useful even for playing (see data sheet). I have the time with a lap of racing game tested and me are no streaks / slurred movements noticed. But should be noted in graphically complex games that you more computing power in the graphics card needs to be supplied with the monitor pixels as one example, needed for a Full HD monitor.
The illumination does not affect the unbalanced everyday work. However, it is not completely compensated. You can see that when the backlight viewed in a darkened room and with a black image on the display. I tried to hold the imbalance of the backlight photographically and have this photo as the product photos. However, the effect of the long exposure is increased when taking pictures and the striped pattern is also an effect that is created when taking pictures (keyword moiré). The picture is therefore to use a maximum for a qualitative judgment. A gain in image quality compared to my previous screen (TN panel) I have in the range of brightness levels. In my previous screen the grays were always very undifferentiated in very dark and very bright areas and we have seen, for example, from a certain dark gray only black. Connections

When inputs are display port and DVI-D available. On HDMI and VGA you have to do without. While you can adapt HDMI (I have not tried), it is to bring via VGA images on the monitor of my knowledge, not possible. The internal speakers can be optionally powered via display port or via the built-in jack with audio signals. But its construction, not particularly intense sound experience expected. However, anyone who uses the screen only to work and do not often want to listen to music with it, can possibly get along well with the built-in speakers. Even a connection for headphones there, but I just as the internal speakers use, because the jack is almost in the middle of the back of the monitor. A 2-times the USB hub can be found at the same position. This is also not used because of the poor accessibility of me. It is, incidentally, not a current USB 3 hub but a USB 2 hub.
Conclusion
=====
The Eizo EV2736WFS creates a difficult middle ground, highest demands on him to meet my best possible. It is mechanically adjustable and still not wobbly, it is good to look for movies and television, he brings by its size more convenience when working. For image processing, he advertises itself for me also. An important aspect of such a large monitor is also the power for me. Thanks to the LED backlight, the monitor is relatively sparingly - in office use the power meter measures 22 watts.
If the display remains me now for some years faithfully, it has earned his money and 5 stars.
