Good camera for beginners with high expectations

After I spent a year photographed with a Canon 1000D this has now ersätzt through 500d. Beforehand I had hired considerations whether it is a 50d or 500d to be. But since the functions of the 500D for my purposes sufficient so far and the housing of the 50d is a little too big for my taste, I decided against the double-digit camera. The difference in price I will probably now still prefer to invest in a nice lens.
Comparing the 1000D and the 500D, as the case of the 500d has been rounded off with some little things, but can not keep up with a housing 40d or 50d a course. Nevertheless, I feel the feel of the 500d to be pleasant and the smaller Bodey compared to the double-digit cameras has its advantages, but since everyone has different preferences.
Processing I would rate as well, since it has certainly met my expectations.

The quality of the images is also my expectations accordingly well. The color display is also in the automatic modes usually very pleasant. Here, the 1000D handle often wrong, especially when it came to available light shots. Also, the autofocus of 500d works, in my opinion, better than the 1000D.
The quality of the monitor leaves me with nothing to be desired. The brightness is sufficient, as well as the size and quality of the representation. When 1000d often the problem that the pictures looked quite good on the small screen and then even printed on the monitor or they were good for nothing. Here the display of the 500d represents more realistic.
The video function is a nice gimmick, but was not buying tsche ident for me. The picture quality is good, the focus is a little slow and even at HSM motors from Sigma is a focusing sound in the audio track to listen to what is probably not so easy to avoid technically.

All in all, I feel the Canon as a successful camera with a very good value for money and would recommend them to anyone who is now not higher on the burst rate, the greater possibilities is dependent on manual adjustments and a little better autofocus of 50d.
