Benefits:
Positive strikes me that scanning is very fast - with me he replaced a Canon LiDE 90 flatbed scanner, which required a multiple of the time required for scanning. Scanning is also very simple. If the provided software ScanSnap Manager is open, it is enough to press the (single) button on the scanner and documents are scanned. You can later decide how you want to save it or process further.
The scanner itself is pretty small and portable, about the size of a carton of cigarettes, a little deeper though, but less wide. Due to its compact dimensions and the possibility to make the power supply via USB, it is also suitable for mobile use. It is well made and can be easily assembled because open. Only the pickup is a bit underpowered and adjust a bit tedious.
Disadvantages:
It seems that this scanner can be operated using the supplied software. Neither VueScan, which I have used before, even SilverFast can with Fuji devices. The software itself is not available in brass un-Mac-like, looks like an ugly Windows program: more confusing, some settings can be saved, some as the default folder in which the scans are to be stored, can be change, but are equal again forgotten. The software bugs me. Also, since the current version of the December 2010 (!) Comes, nothing is mentioned about three years old.
In summary: Nice compact thing, also good mobile use, but the software could be much better. Combined with a truly user-friendly software that would be a very nice thing.
