First, the sound:
I have extensively tested both in music and film, primarily but only at medium volume. You would think there would be a world of difference there, as this gaming system has at least tasted the triple (by Philips website). However, the sound quality here hang heavily from the playback device. I have tested both with smartphone, tablet and PC. For tablet and smartphone I give clearly the old speakers priority, as these have a much clearer sound and a more powerful bass. The sound of the new system here is a bit full, but unfortunately quite dull. When used with the PC I give the new speakers a small lead as they provide a slightly fuller and more consistent sound. Even the bass fits very well into a sound, without being intrusive. But I'm missing everywhere a certain brilliance in the tweeters, which were present in the old speakers
If the music is very quiet and not running all the time to hear a typical rhythmic noise during operation on the PC.
Now the hardware:
First, the positive:
Clean in design, the new speakers are unbeatable and look much better than my old one. The wired remote control is well done. It has next to the volume control and an operating lamp, an on / off switch and a headphone output each and an aux input. If you live in an apartment with intolerant neighbors, this subwoofer also has another advantage: it is at medium volume remarkably empty or flat to sound a few vibrations into the soil without.
Now for the negative:
The biggest weakness of these speakers is in my opinion in the cables. Here was just cut down evil. On one hand, the cables are too short to the satellites and unfortunately has little scope as regards the setting up and on the other hand they are also isolated completely inadequate, which causes audible interference from other cables from the PC and monitors. Here my old speakers had clearly the nose in front because the cables were there first, longer and secondly much better insulated, so there was no noise. This is a major point of criticism to today's possible-cheap policy, in this case from Philips! Add to this that the remote control is unfortunately firmly connected to the subwoofer and. Does not have a jack connection as with my old system This has the advantage that theoretically the transmission is better because no other connector for integrated damping system, but with my old system on the remote control first, a cable break has occurred. That would be a total loss where I needed simply replace the cable at the old with the new speakers. One point I have to the subwoofer. The design with the exposed membrane is indeed cool, but also quite risky because it is the most sensitive part of the whole box. Since the subwoofer but often stands under the table, so it can quickly happen to anyone that you provided purely occurs there.
Conclusion:
This gaming system is a good proof that a good sound output you need for some speakers. For these speakers, I personally would even recommend a separate sound card in order to exploit the full potential.
Personally, I'm not sure who I should recommend these speakers. For casual players, the off and sometimes a movie, these speakers are a bit too expensive. Since there are more favorable, which are better suited, on the performance forth. For the people who play regularly and watch movies they are suitable only to a very limited due to poor cable.
Even a short, crisp summary:
Benefits:
+ Cool design
+ Low-vibration subwoofer
+ Full of sound
+ Sensible remote
+ Very good sound with good output device
Disadvantages:
- Very short cable for satellite
- Poor insulation
- Noise
- Only moderate or poor sound in low output device
The sound itself, I give 4.5 stars. For the cable but I prefer the 1.5 star again, which my my opinion, but more gracious.
So if you want good sound, reasonably good hardware has no long cord needs and not quietly, but-present noise annoys may here safely access. :)
