Inputs
SP / DIFF optical and coaxial + async. USB. I have only used the USB input. The device has been detected (with driver) under Windows 7 immediately. Best.
Outputs
In addition to the RCA NAD has also balanced XML connections. For me, this was a must-have feature. Top in this price range.
Headphone Amplifier
Often the headphone amplifier in audio interfaces are indeed more "emergency". When NAD the headphone output, however, is to use well. Was for me but unimportant - one has finally another source and therefore I have always a separate KHV by Lehmann. Why the NAD but only has a 3.5mm jack remains incomprehensible to me - sooo compact that no space for a larger female would he now also not. Also the volume control is quite annoying: is changed up the volume, turning for a while. Well, fine tuning is not a problem in any case.
Design
In can not argue - but mine is not. It looks to me like "let's try once as Apple" ... only we can not do it really. The volume control in lively Grey seems to me cheap and the luminous information for the active input and kHz have almost what of "retro".
Usability
Here the NAD collects successful Negatives:
* On / Off switch: This is located on the top and the "sensor version". Switching is therefore almost only possible if one also sees the switch. Under the table the going gets tough. At a horizontal installation the switch on the page, making many places simply impossible.
* On / Off switch on the 2 .: You have the NAD always manually. Together with other devices on a power strip does not go.
The big BUT
If the NAD receives a signal he needs short (Unfortunately, he needs the O phase always after a few seconds no signal has arrived. I often hear individual tracks and choose after each manually from the next. The result was that I rarely first half second've heard - if it starts identically worded more than annoying Somehow I actually claim that I want to hear everything including early -.. and that was the point at which the instrument decreased.
Support
My mail to support (in s) was friendly and eager to answer within 48 hours. (Unfortunately, no solution, but that was to be expected.)
