Initially, the style is very consistent with what makes the charm and success of the novels by Amélie Nothomb: spontaneity, sincerity, sometimes harsh judgments and uncompromising, acerbic eyes, mixed with a zest of simplicity casually. The eye winks in reference to his old productions also place throughout the book: Hygiene (the murderer), attack, or the appearance of champagne, to the reference to its own name in an expression use.
But for the rest, the initial situation, the sequence of events, poor reasoning, everything seems to wacky. As is the main character. Always these bizarre personalities, outsized (if one can imagine there to be) worrying. A little too repetitive, perhaps, in the long run. It is time that Amelie Nothomb make them mature. The belated and rebellious teenager side (which, moreover, acted with incredible lightness), it goes a while, but then it is desirable to move on.
It even comes to ask if Amélie Nothomb would not have abused a fungus that would have lost somewhere beyond his reason and his talent ... (this is not an insult; those read will understand).
I say no more. I let you enjoy without revealing the plot of the story.
Once again, the book is extremely short and fast read (maybe becoming overly). A year to produce so little; a little disappointing.
Very disappointing, in any case, as regards the background. Two stars not to put one. Now I want one thing: whether you like it to you.
