I have tried to make friends with the supplied MeeGo unsuccessful. MeeGo makes a little the final pressure to be the answer to a question that no one has asked. The surface is too much on "be easy" for me and "new-fangled stuff" (Facebook, Twitter) trimmed. Therefore, I have (see below) to have my Ubuntu install something familiar in his fingers. "Little-User", the only email and surf and make newfangled stuff, will probably be able to technically zufriden with the x101, but I do not think that this target group is willing to accept anything other than Windows.
I have Ubuntu and various variations (Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu) each installed in the 11:04 version. The hardware is fully supported. Finally, I am now for the time being remained hanging in Xubuntu, but this probably is simply my personal taste.
The perfomance is for my application (small Java program that does nothing computationally intensive) more than adequate. Boot time is probably due to the SSD 25 seconds.
Positive small and light is the power supply (compared to some other Frechheiten in cheap laptops, for example IEC socket in the power supply). There is a power supply and has roughly the size of an older cell phone power adapter or is slightly smaller than my MacBook Air power adapter, which is added chic.
To consider some other things:
- At the first start of the X101 would like a min. 8GB large USB stick have to create a recovery media. Who does not have something like that should also order a. Later, you can no longer create the media.
- There is no Ethernet port and no monitor (VGA, HDMI, DVI) output
