Marco Beltrami is back with an epic and bombastic comic score that seamlessly into its previous, similar work such as Blade II and Terminator 3 is: RISE OF THE MACHINES enqueues yet to offer a new white. Starting with the ominous "Oct. 7th, 1944" puts the music soon an emphasis on lyrical, emotional moments in "Meet Hellboy" and especially "Liz Sherman", which must be one of the most beautiful Beltrami melancholy love themes (see also "Hellboy & Liz "). The large orchestra with choir is supported by bass, theremin and some solo vocals that constantly surprises and some bizarre moments provide (eg the German-speaking aria "Kroenen's Song" and the closing "BPRD"). Of course, the action is not too short, starting with "Fireproof" on "Alley Fight" and "Mechanical Mausoleum" up to the grand finale in "Stand by Your Man". Overall, Beltrami latest work mainly by a strong main motif, a wonderfully tragic love theme and a distinctive operatic drama honors. But his usual humorous orchestrations and the thrilling and sometimes rather shrill action are not neglected. For fans a must, but also with Beltrami less familiar listeners arrive at the varied album at their expense.
