From "My Cassette Player" I was already very impressed: snappy songs that for the most part (Satellite, Bee, Love me, My Same, etc) already Lenas live performance were known, but knew how to convince the studio version also , With "Good News" Lena has clearly developed further - only "What happened to me" reminds me very strongly of "Love me".
Nearly 38 minutes of new music Lena expects the potential buyer, which are filled with twelve very versatile and interesting composed mostly songs.
Lena starts her little musical journey with telling some "Good News". A catchy pop number, which is mainly supported by Lena's voice and a piano - nice start. "What happenend to me" a track is snappy there. The co-written by Stefan Raab and Lena number goes directly to the legs and you want to jump up and dance along. With "A Million and One" (the style of Kate Nash is clearly heard) and "Maybe" stays true to the Lena up-tempo track. In particular, the latter sounds playful, joyful and conjures me every time you hear a big grin on his face. The following "I like you" is too shallow and inconsequential. It bobs up too much to himself. One waits in vain for a climax and - hey presto - the song is over. But after this 2:52 minutes Lena picking up speed again and roars with "Mama Told Me" in a funky 70s sound into the microphone. But must "Push Forward" are referred to as a (large) peak. Song seven minimalist arranged, but has lyrically vocally an enormous impact. Lena has already proved with "Mr. Curiosity" prove that she feels at home in the ballad-like area. This impression is manifested considerably with "Push Forward". Absolute Hörempfehlung. "A Good Day" sounds like sunny days, fresh summer air and good humor. The sung good day flows through the speakers into the mind and makes merry.
My absolute highlight, however, is "Taken By A Stranger". Dark, electronic, lyrically and vocally interesting class Lena sings about the fascination with a stranger. OF out tip par excellence!
The absolute crash is but "Teenage Girls": lyrically it's total grits and also of Lenas singing is nothing to remember extraordinary. This song can be skipped easily. With "That Again" and "at all", she decides her second concoction and can also convince with those two songs. The former is rather fast and groovy, whereas "at all" (written by Aloe Blacc) is more like an up-tempo ballad.
On the whole, I am with Lena's performance more than satisfied. "Good news" is fresh, bold and makes listening fun. Sure, it has the musical wheel is not reinvented, but still pass the 38 minutes fly by and you want promptly taken by Lena again by the hand and be guided by their beautiful places.
Also, the booklet is beautifully managed. Photos of small Hanoverian, which are held mostly in gray, sweeten eavesdropping and -Sing the lyrics. I have for some time tickets for one of Lena's concerts and I am really looking forward to the second album in his hand now "very hard".
