Sure, their way of singing is unique in the world and is about their skills no doubt. In the earlier 60s, Barbra did out by the fact that she interpreted standards in a new way and from every song made her own. The arrangements of their songs were great, you hear mostly "Have I stayed too long at the fair." Unfortunately, it has, others, adapted to contemporary tastes like so many over the years, which has led to mediocrity at least since the mid-70s. Sure, there are still outstanding vocal performance, but the arrangements leave much to be desired. Sweet strings and keyboards outweigh what almost painfully shows the difference to the old songs. Also, one wonders why it has songs like "Woman in love", "Guilty", "Enough is enough" or "All I ask of you" ever recorded in ghastly pop arrangement. They, the floated earlier against the current is, unfortunately, become part of the stream. This is when listening to Barbra individual CD's not as clear as on this compilation. For those who can start even with their later songs something, here is a good overview of their career to get, with a nice booklet with which the CD safe for people interested who have not heard of Barbra. Personally, I agree but rather to the recordings of the 60s and early 70s and recommend especially the CD's "The Second Barbra Streisand Album," "People," "My Name Is Barbra II", "Je m'appelle Barbra" and "The Way We Were ".
