As a big fan of the last album, the outstanding songs "Youngblood" and "Punching in a Dream"'m still euphoric (perfect songs for running), I was incredibly excited about the new album (one has also a long wait). The pre-publication "Hearts like ours" has me already quite excited and was (not to mention ending of the never-quite catchy) with me in recent days in a loop. Accordingly great was the anticipation of the whole album, just as high but unfortunately also the height of fall. The album is m. E. not as bad as a previous reviewer has found it, but it's also not nearly as good as the aforementioned single release or the previous album. In fact, I have found myself that I did not notice the transitions between songs and wondering when at last begins the next song, yet already 3-4 title were gone through. Highlights to look for the second song "Hearts like ours", in fact, in vain, it ripples all very quiet and a bit vacuous therefore. From the euphoria of the above mentioned songs of the previous album, unfortunately, nothing has remained. No power, no power, no eye-openers. Instead, a quiet, melancholic pop electro mix that somehow does not want to ignite right. That in itself is really not worth three to four stars, but overall I have to state that I have not yet banned the album entirely of my MP3 player. Some passages have something quite relaxing and are in their melancholy mood a suitable background music for gray and rainy autumn days. "Rolling Waves", "I Kill Giants", "What We Want" and "A small reunion" for example, tear me now not totally off the stool, but sit down quite some time (it actually needs a few runs) in the ear canals fixed and awaken the desire to hear them again. And that makes my eyes from the quality of good music. Looked me is songs of the previous album still too bulky and were mere stopgap for the few outstanding songs, here is the album in its entirety clearly catchy and harmonious whole. So my overall conclusion fluctuates somewhere between "mushy, boring and lacking in highlights" and "catchy, relaxing and suitably melancholy accompaniment gray autumn days." With increasing listening time, I tend to the latter out, purely from abdominal or feeling of hearing, otherwise the album would have long since vanished in the far reaches of my hard disk - but that is not yet in sight. In summary, a slightly better three-star album that could slip with increasing listening time and by an over song "Hearts like Ours" also quite in the 4 points. There is currently a total but still too thin and insubstantial.
* Edit (08/01/2014): The album is still running, "What We Want" has even become one of my favorite songs of the past few weeks. Reason enough to give the album the fourth star.
