Customer Review

With their third album after "Dire Straits" and "Communiqué" laid the Dire Straits in 1980 laid the foundation for their later success. Mark Knopfler was active after the departure of his brother David strengthened both as a songwriter, producer and lead guitarist. The album is ultimately especially his level as a composer and songwriter.
Musically, "Making Movies" characterized by positive, powerful guitar playing with a lot of melody and alternation between fast and slow passages. The 7 songs (38:30 min) are catchy, but not too commercial. The album ultimately acts more mature than the two predecessors not quite as bleak as the brilliant successor "Love Over Gold" (1982).
Convinced of the songs especially the classic "Tunnel of Love" (8:11), a powerful rock song, the single "Romeo and Juliet" (6:01), a beautiful ballad and "Espresso Love" (5:12) , with Knopfler in top form. "Hand in Hand" (4:48) is a slow, quiet ballad, "Solid Rock" (3:27), a fast rock song, "Skating Away" (6:40) drops slightly, stands but through an ironic text. In "Les Boys" (4:08) Knopfler processed finally visiting a gay nightclubs in Munich.
I personally "Making Movies" very much I would classify it according to "Love Over Gold" and "Brothers in Arms" as the third best album of Dire Straits, along with the similarly conceived debut who prefer honest, high quality rock music -.. This Album offers just that. Nothing more, nothing less.
