Honey B.Fly as butterfly - one of their best albums

This morning I listened to in the living room "Butterfly". My father came in, as just "Close My Eyes" ran, and when he asked who was singing the because I answered truthfully. "Mariah Carey" Then he replied, a little surprised: "The has indeed made quite good stuff."
I have to agree with him absolutely.
To complete as I am currently doing my Mariah Carey Collection (or to add one) I came also to the '97 album "Butterfly" are not around.
The CD was partly produced by Sean Combs, better known as Puff Daddy or P. Diddy. For some songs Mariah also worked with Cory Rooney, who famously two years later her "rival" Jennifer Lopez turned to.
Otherwise Walter Afanasieff is responsible for "Butterfly"; with him drew Mariah already "Music Box".
The cover / booklet way, I find very tasteful: Mariah with her natural hair color in honey-colored top (suitable for the first single "Honey") against brown background, a butterfly on her hand (matching the album title).
"Butterfly" is not as hip-hop-heavy as the successor "Rainbow" and "Glitter", only on "Breakdown" and "So So Def Radio Mix" of "Honey" it receives "support" of rappers.
The dramatic "The Beautiful Ones", a Prince cover, Mariah sings with Dru Hill.
A little disappointed me on the album that many songs sound fairly similar during the first hearing and at first take some getting used to round the ear.
In addition, is not a real killer song here, in which one thinks the same "man ...".
The "So So Def Radio Mix" No. 1 hit "Honey" (feat. Da Brat and JD) is dispensable, the "Def Club Mix" even quite superfluous.
Too bad is the fact that Honey B.Fly so Mariah nickname and the name of the new official fan club, her voice not its full capacity in most songs.
Otherwise, "Butterfly" with beautiful ballads like "My all", the aforementioned "Close My Eyes" or (my special tip!) "Whenever You Call" and faster, danceable songs like "Honey" and "The Roof" highly recommend.
And with repeated listening I have now also won it very much.
