Habe mir "The Settlers: Heritage of Kings - Gold Edition" today a try just for the heck of 10 euros (Software Pyramide thanks be) taken. Have the same starting times with a single-player map to get a feel for the game and its mechanics. I have "The Settlers 4" played then and found it not at times bad, but my "build-heart" belongs to the "Anno" series (yes, even the much bekrittelten "1503").
The more surprised I am now after a little over 2 hours of play, how loose and flaky "The Settlers: Heritage of Kings" by the hand goes. I am quite with "Age of Empires II" back is reminiscent of the good old days, but I am from the interface and the associated operation of the "settlers" outliers almost even more excited. Clearly, clearly, all the relevant information, no nested menus, fast einprägbare hotkey layout ... Top.
The standing behind the whole mechanism, although certainly not the most complex from the construction aspect, also rankles me a bit that there are eg. No production chains, but to satisfy the construction-will, there are other "settlers" parts. Overall the game is not a real complexity miracles, but 1 is that is not the goal and 2 was also not radically anywhere too long (see upgrades to the building, etc., which in turn are linked to research, etc.). It is now times, especially in the campaign (which represent the way in my view a great game element, which is sometimes not so strong ausgelutscht) battle with the heroes and to advancing a story. And the whole thing has BlueByte now interpreted to mean that, as a result everything should run slightly faster and in a sense simpler when it comes to the basic things. Why not, in this respect makes "The Settlers: Heritage of Kings" in my view little wrong ...
And because the love diehard "settlers" fans so upset about the names Relatives outlier to its purebred build-siblings ... The basic principle to build something, rising population figures, etc. is quite still. That the whole thing is of course not as strong moves into the depths, as in the other parts, was indeed now be explained at length. And by the way ... Also in "The Settlers: Heritage of Kings" I find the Wuselfaktor quite likable, even if it is of course not quite as cute. The fact that the totally different interpretation of the play principle also often simply do not have time to watch the chaos, seems to be some escaped. I any case are still noticed no major delays, in which I the bustle of no longer so cute guy could watch me. Conversely, however, it motivated me immensely, from and to click on a example. Lehmgruben-workers to see their satisfaction and heard. Next door waddles the priest through the chapel, in order to follow his work ... Does what.
Annoying I think partly the somewhat ... Well. I want things get mildly described as 'getting used to' voice of the serfs. Although I have to admit that I am partial but brings the Hesse-inspired accent laugh.
I have some strategy and, above all, economic games behind me, even highly complex representatives as "The Patrician 2" ... I therefore had some concerns, especially through the tests that I have read that "The Settlers: Heritage of Kings "somehow might be too simple and therefore would not captivate. Has not confirmed anything. Sure, the game is relatively simple and not very complex, but somehow it has (may well be due to the graphic) its own unique charm. It is, as mentioned above, everything very quickly out of hand, and it would be if, for example from school. A university is, and then you can research new technologies, which could in turn affect other branches impact. And gradually climbs the display of available raw materials into the air, the settlers pay taxes diligently. Oh wait, there still missing 2 Wuselmännern eating and sleeping ... Can not I vll. Removing an existing home, or do I have to watch that I possible sense another Place somewhere? Etc ...
Overall, I must therefore honestly say: Who wants to get excited just thinking about that "Heritage of Kings" no thoroughbred "settlers", the should be but please buy a biscuit. And the allegation that one has adapted the "settlers" concept to "conventional" real-time strategy, I find ridiculous in the extreme. The summit is indeed the "argument" that "Heritage of Kings" is just another of many RTS games is ... rarely laughed. This applies to so many titles, and it's really not that you have not sought in this counterpart to variety.
Who feel like an entertaining, with some nice ideas and idiosyncrasies larded strategy game (in my view justifiably) has reference to a large building game series, which was "The Settlers: Heritage of Kings" give a chance. Especially now, when it is to have, together with its extensions for just 10 euros.
