In short and relieve reluctant to read: this game is actually fun, tough, very pleasant to play and can boast a long life (many trays and extensions available).
More detail now. To start the box is very beautiful, with a texture "woven paper cardboard" very nice. First good point.
Then, at the opening, the first impression is confirmed. The various instructions, pubs and other explanatory notes are neat and well presented (eg presentation of their work and their iPad application on a sheet of newspaper ... Pretty nice, although it's still self-promotion for them) .
The plateau, cards (with the same woven paper-like - I mean the texture), wooden pegs, plastic locomotives and railway stations are just as nice and strong (it seems).
Now to the game itself. Small problem though: the manual of 8 pages. But do not be mislead by it. My advice prepare the game, install the cards, checkers, etc. as they say and start playing while reading the instructions to As (as also recommended in the instructions).
The game is very fun and easy to handle. To understand the intricacies of it, both parties are required I think. The parties may be faster or slower, but 30 minutes minimum time as indicated on the game box seems a bit optimistic ... But the game is not so good rhythm worries, no sennuie.
Regarding the minimum age ... Again I think it is a little optimistic. An 8 year old child could indeed play the game, but I'm not sure he understands or wants to understand the intricacies of the game (different dirty blow that little example ... do!) But mainly I do not think that children this age can get excited about this game. I would recommend rather 10-12 years.
Finally, it is noteworthy that many versions exist, but that the European version is very beautiful train journeys and less ... straight (it is a detail, but I prefer). The various additions are also sympathetic compared to the US version (stations, ferry, etc.).
For those who want to push the experience a little further know that it is an extension designed only for the European model, named Europe 1912. In addition, there are other trays available including India, Switzerland, China, etc.
Finally, a player's community gathered to offer unofficial plates and cards. Dispos via the following link:
