Win7 (64bit)
Driver Installation without problems, there is also a wireless tool Realtek installed.
Key has been detected after a restart of Win7.
I have additionally used for measuring the inSSIDer tool (not supplied).
Realtek tool - very good signal quality about 90 - 95% non, total Top values inSSIDer poorer signal quality and Connect
Page layout, and data transfer still appears to be in order but at least no worse than my old stick.
The values of the Realtek tools do not seem to be correct or fined because the speed is not better than my old stick.
The next day I noticed when the system starts the extremely slow to Connect to the router.
It takes a few minutes until the drive connects to the router and the Internet connection is available.
That changed during the day no longer also. In addition, constantly breaks after about 45 to 1 hr. The connection completely. I was just about to load a Linux distribution when I noticed that. I thought it is up to my router but after several tests with my laptop and my old WLAN stick I always had a stable Verbindung. Also under Win7 on my hardware mediocre to poor performance.
Linux Mint 17.1 Kernel 3.16.0-34
does not run out of the box, so file loaded Zip from the manufacturer's site with my kernel.
It is possible to use a sh install or Cross Compile etc ..
Installation instructions are provided in the zip file. Very good!
If beginners have problems under Ubuntu / Linux Mint. Here is a brief description
(Please specify in the terminal and sudo password handy hold):
sudo apt-get install build-essential git
git clone [...]
cd rtl8812au
make
sudo make install
sudo modprobe 8812au
After that, the stick should be recognized. Iwconfig run to control the terminal.
The stick is, for example, displayed as wlan0.
Unfortunately, I had under Linux Mint a slow Connect, a little faster however than on Windows.
In addition, the same disconnections after 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Under Korora I tried it briefly but I got similar results ... so I do not use another test.
The whole thing just annoys me only the time invested. The driver for this drive does not seem to be mature.
This can also be seen at the other very positive reviews but where everything works fine just not always.
So there appears to be a series variance in this product.
The stick is so back immediately.
Maybe someone has a tip for a good Ac Stick, who both WIN and under
Linux Mint / Ubuntu and Fedora is running.
Update 09/05/2015:
Windows 7 is up to date / updates etc.
I do not use desktop firewall under Win7 and trust the data from the tool inSSIDer I've been using for years.
I once researched the net. Apparently a lot of people have problems with the installed chipset from Realtek and
related drivers. Because simply just trying.
