I have become aware of Maria Mena last year (2011) by the two singles "Just Hold Me" and "All This Time". Meanwhile, I have all five albums (where "White Turns Blue" almost the same setlist has as "mellow", but the latter Import CD is too expensive.). Then came "Viktoria", which significantly differs from the previous albums by the style. It is significantly quieter and less catchy than the others. While listening to the first time I thought, okay, good, but I missed a clear line. But now I have to say, the more I listen to it, the better I find them. The album is very unconventional, without a doubt. What stands out are the quiet verses that in unusual Refraims peaks. The CD is a 36-minute running length Although very short, it is in their 11 rather short songs an incredible energy. Your gossamer voice that sounds incredibly young, swinging through her songs and produced in me a distinct goosebumps. The comparison may be a bit inappropriate, but I must always think of the young Kate Bush, the time also made a very unusual music. If you consider that Maria Mena was just 16 years old when their first album and already made great music, is "Victoria" - now with mid-20s - a masterpiece. Who knows how much potential still lies dormant in her. I hope that in the near future from it a live recording is released.
