Dead Space 2 [Platinum] (Video Game)

Customer Review

I have a rating system in which there is to achieve a maximum of 100 points for games. Under the Conclusion scoring and points that can be achieved is carried out. Here I share in technology, gameplay, story and atmosphere. I can also assure you that no relevant spoiler will occur. You can also directly read through the outline of the part that interests you. For too lazy to read it is enough to read only the Gesamtfazit .;)

It is, incidentally, only my opinion. I am neutral towards any genre and am working mostly with the single player of a game.

Gameplay:

Control:
The control is lacking some of its momentum. No Sliden, no cover and no jumping. One feels about as if you weigh 500 Kg. The key assignment I am quite satisfied. I'm always glad when developers perceive the arrow keys for simple commands and I do not have to handle with three-digit combos. So if you have the keys memorized once, everything goes well out of hand. The goals in the 3rd person and in addition to the PS3 is so ne thing. Even Dead Space 2 brings in there any traction. In hectic situations you like to shoot next and go on it. Perhaps'm just bad. : D

Game mechanics:
Genre Technically, here is a survival horror 3rd person shooter. The story progression is generally linear, but even here there is scope for the developer. Most of the time I was very pleased. You could look around as you liked and run back relatively far back. Some places, however, were such a forced and scripted, that me already burst the veins. But the only way. A small example of how a chapter might look like in the game: Running it's broken from A to B and activate them there Object object X. X. Running back and grab spare parts Y. Well done, at object X now a boss enemy is waiting for you. Kill him and then repair object X with spare parts Y. task done. After object X is working again, they must be activated protection field Z. * Start of the next chapter. These mechanics I find quite hampered because you hardly experienced success moments and actually a goal is increasingly delayed. Mini games like in Part 1 I could not find, for the alternation between tension and relaxation was better. Who plays by Part 1 at a time alone (the first run), who has nerves of steel. The second part goes just better because every now and then come back riddles or longer dialogues. On the way from A to B, we often sit tight in areas where enemy hordes to us storms and generally a any front, one from behind the other ten from the direction. Different enemy types make for a bit of variety, where the balancing is not optimal.

Equipment:
Important for each shooter and especially Dead Space is the equipment. Stasis and Telekinesis is one presented in the first chapter and are again part of the game. Some ten individual weapons you can get hold of as the game progresses. Each has a primary and secondary fire. So all in all you have good 20 to 25 possibilities, the aliens to maltreat to own preferences .;) The weapons are upgradeable and moreover new and better suits can also be found throughout the game.

Difficulty:
At the beginning you have the difficulty Easy, Normal, Hard and fanatics at your disposal. Most games I been playing only once on normal. For the degree Games are finally made. With the sluggish goals with controller I had my phases where it was almost the same time in any case. The ammunition is naturally scarce and renewable energy of life does not exist.

Conclusion:
In terms of school grades, a clear three. The control system is satisfactory, the gameplay thanks to some Aufreger a four, the equipment and the level of difficulty a two is not rated. Simply put, the game has given no fun playing and I had myself persuaded to continue playing. Although this is in horror games is often the case, but does not have to be and can be a motivating Level / Upgrade System compensate.
For gameplay from me it 13/25 points.

Story:

Plot (SPOILER WARNING from Dead Space 1):
As Isaac Clarke, we were at that time on a foraging flight ship (watn word ^^) called Ishimura sent to to look for survivors. The crew had an ancient relic found that aliens awakening back to life. Our friend was on that ship their lives. So we went in search of this relic, which calls itself the red Edding. Oke, it was the red marker. ^^ I love the name so ridiculous. Thanks to this we are going through some psychoses which partly leave us in the faith, to see people who are not (more). After a rich final fight with a giant Alien we manage to destroy the Edding and take refuge, but the psychosis are not over. So we find ourselves in the second part in a flying boat Nervenheilanstalt ^^ again. As this is suddenly overrun by aliens, we get out of the dust. Our primary goal: survival
Together with unfamiliar faces, we try to find out why the aliens exist, although the Edding has no color.

Protagonist:
We are in the mechanic skin of Isaac Clarke. He worked on various air ships and wanted his girlfriend Nicole also offer a similar dream job and gives her a job on the Ishimura (Declaration in action). This ship will however geraped of Aliens and Nicole bites the dust. Since then plaguing Isaac psychosis and remorse, which he tried to overcome and be caused partly by the red marker.

Characters:
Mark you the name Nicole, Ellie and Stross. Those are the only characters that run through the whole game and are relevant to the story. About the story one learns not really much.

Storytelling:
Rendered cutscenes and in-game graphics there any scenes also rather rare. At least story relevant. Most of the story we learn about video calls of other characters. Against such things I generally nothing, but at least at the beginning and at the end of a beautiful cutscene would be asking too much.

Conclusion:
The story is not a highlight of this title. I can not say that I am an immersive plot, has driven to continue playing. Although I once had such a wow factor, but was really interesting? No. No emotion, no deeper plot, no great backstories.
For the story from me it 11/25 points.

Atmosphere:

Setting:
In the Dead Space series, a science-fiction scenario with spaceships, laser guns and high-tech suits on you come to. If I had to describe the setting in a word, it would be spacey.

Horror:
An important part of Horrors are psychoses in this part Isaacs. These were the places where I thought: What to fi ** is going on now? That is also the horror that I extremely love. In addition, there are the shock moments that have frequently occurred in the first part. This did not miss out in the second part. The game even made it that I have a few times scares me correctly (technical equipment provided). The developers wanted to convey the feeling of a hopelessness also more often. But was badly implemented by massive or smaller renewable opponents. That was partly just annoying.

Opponents Style:
Old and new enemy types can be found in Dead Space 2. Each type of enemy is designet detailed and fits the setting. Although crawling babies are somewhat macabre with exploding Blähbäuchen and screaming toddlers with witches claws.

Weapons:
Also the weapons fit into a setting. Laser cannons, pulse rifle, ray gun, Plasma Cutter, and so I think the names say it all. The weapons are designet creative and have different powers.

Conclusion:
The atmosphere is likely to be in most of the reason to buy Dead Space 2. So it was at least for me. Tension, horror, narrowness, darkness, blood, limbs, paranoia, epinephrine and caution are only a few true words that describe the atmosphere. Small masochists will get their fair share.
For the atmosphere from me it 22/25 points.

Technology:

Graphics:
In terms of graphics EA has always been good about it. The facial animations are compared to other games very good, detailed textures, lighting effects okay, shadow rarely pixelated and mirror effects I have not heard. Can not complain.

Physics:
Balloons burst, break glasses and other objects can be cut from the table. Only a floating trash and a few struggling corpses I espied. Has halt all its price. Such errors are manageable and laudable the engine itself.

Sound:
Tested with a Yamaha RX-V373 and speakers plus subwoofer Magnat Monitor Supreme series. Who meets the technical requirements, Dead Space may enjoy surround sound in Dolby Digital 2 method. Can I definitely recommend, because the location works very well. You can hear where the enemies are coming from and speaking information boards speak from the direction where they really are. Even if she misses with telekinesis. The weapon sounds are more so middlings. As a bit of potential was wasted. The remaining samples convince me not necessarily. For this, the voice recording is of high quality. Isaacs voice has more bass than the shot from a cannon energy. Since quiet ne supernova may rise in the room. Powerful weapons must also listen powerful.

Scope:
The Single Player allows depending on the difficulty about eight to twelve hours of play and, thanks New Game + and severe difficulty a little replayability. In addition there is a multiplayer to choose from, which is not really worth mentioning. I understand that EA wants but that existing passports online so you can future Dead Space 2 also sale used. Kudos to this point to the marketing department of EA.

Loading screen:
A grenade has Dead Space 2 yet. If you are going to continue after the first game session to game, you can see the Ladebildschrim. Den you can watch good because having only a cameo appearance. Charging times will find this engine instead namely while you're in an elevator or a door opens. So you're sitting just before each session laid the loading screen and then the game flow is not interrupted.

Conclusion:
Graphics good, sound good, good scope, good physics and hardly load times. Games are nicer, but Dead Space does not lack anything. Grafikhu * s will be able to live with it in any case.
For the technique from me it 20/25 points.

Overall rating:

Dead Space 2 is to play very tiring. Everything goes very fast and fun on games is something else. The story is rather uninteresting. I think that most would even ignore, because the action is not worth it just to be persecuted. For guests staying a panic atmosphere and outstanding technology in all its glory. Who is on this spacey setting and survival horror, which I can recommend just the second part warmly. Alternatives for survival would be Resident Evil 5 or The Last of Us. An alternative would be Fear Horror. 2

For Dead Space 2 from me it 66/100 points.

The title thus gets a 4 star rating and is definitely for fans of the genre its time value. I hope I could help with my review and I would still be happy about a positive feedback .;)

Yours sincerely
