Many former friends, companions and fellow musician Ronnie James Dio, who was one of the greatest hard rock singers of all time, have placed in the Tribute / Cover versions powerful in that stuff and made with great attention to the work. All artists push the songs their own stamp on, but without losing the songs on brand recognition or worse than the original.
Particularly noteworthy is the Ronnie Rising Medley "A Light In The Black", "Tarot Woman", "Stargazer", "Kill the King") of Metallica.Die guys play the songs in their very typical Metallicaspielweise as if they were songs that you forgot in the recordings of "Kill Em` All" or "Ride The Lightning" to press on the albums. Motörhead spit with vocalist Biff Byford of Saxon by "Starstruck" and one thinks Rainbow had once just reinforced with Lemmy and Biff.
Killswitch Engage press "Holy Diver" a powerful Heavy Metal stamp on - the little death metal deposits are daring, but the melody is not lost and after a day or by listening twice we find the not so bad ('m definitely not a death metal fan) , A refreshing version of the old classic.
But dared kind of interesting is the flute solo in "The Last In Line", interpreted by Tenacious D.
Good versions also supply the Scorpions with The Temple Of The King, Anthrax with "Neon Knights" or from Doro with "Egypt" (The Chains Are Wrong). The singer of Halestorm roars class at "Straight Through The Heart" and Glenn Hughes puts almost a little soul into his version of the old Rainbow track "Catch The Rainbow".
Something I was disappointed with Rob Halford's version of "Man On The Silver Mountain". The high priest sing here almost continuously very low and quite boring, just the end of the play he begins to vary with his voice, which finally sounds really cool for my ears. That would have the good Rob have to make much earlier in the song, but he also has age-related difficulties in high singing - perhaps he keeps therefore so back.
The instrumental accompaniment is on all songs on high level. The guitar solos give in by the Bank from ne good score. The re-hearing these classics in new robes sound fun and guaranteed even shivers. Also I realize again what wrote on great songs, with such a wonderful vocal lines this little man with the huge voice.
Conclusion: All songs were played really passionate and many have a really new "paint" bekommen.Ein highly successful tribute album - a tribute to a very large hard rock singer who unfortunately died much too early.
For all DIO fans a must, but I recommend newcomers necessarily the original discs such as Holy Diver, The Last In Line, Sacret Heart with Rainbow - Long Live Rock `n` Roll, Rising; with Black Sabbath - Heaven And Hell, The Mob Rules, and many more to buy
