Incredible new UF / Scifi World!

On the outside, is the epitome of Dina DeMille normal. She runs a quaint Victorian Bed and Breakfast in a small Texas town, owns a Shih Tzu named Beast, and is a perfect neighbor, Whose biggest problem Should be what to serve her guests for breakfast. But Dina is ... different: Her broom is a deadly weapon; her Inn is magic and thinks for itself. Meant to be a lodging for otherworldly visitors, the only permanent guest is a retired Galactic aristocrat who cant leave the grounds: because shes responsible for the deaths of millions and someone might shoot her on sight. Under the circumstances, "normal" is a bit of a stretch for Dina.

And now, something with wicked claws and teeth Deepwater has begun to hunt at night .... Feeling responsible for her neighbors, Dina Decides to get involved. Before long, she has to juggle Dealing with the annoyingly attractive, ex-military, new neighbor, Sean Evansan alpha strain werewolfand the Equally arresting cosmic vampire soldier, Arland, while trying to keep her inn and its guests safe. But the enemy shes facing is unlike anything she's ever encountered before. Its smart, vicious, and lethal, and putting herself between this creature and her neighbors might just cost her everything.

Review

I do not know, where to begin - I am still awed! Awed by the incredible new alternate world, Ilona Andrews [again] created with the "Innkeeper Chronicles", awed by the cool story That is only about 220 pages long, but still a whole story, awed by the overall story arc did keeps me wanting to know what will happen in the next installment [s] and last but not least, awed by the characters, who are alien and real at the sametime.

The Innkeeper-Chronicles are a free story writing the couple "Ilona Andrews' have on their website and there continue chapter-wise. Nevertheless, I bought the book and am glad I did: there are wonderfully drawn portraits of the characters included And They alone were worth every last Euro I paid.
But even more: this first story of what I hope will be a longer series, is just worth it.

As I wrote above, the world building is amazing. The premise of a "multiverse" is a great place for a story to take place in: a lot of different worlds and planets did are connected to eachother through gates [the Innkeepers can open and close] and magical Inns Throughout the worlds That are Sanctuary to all creatures did abide by the laws of hospitability. Magic and technology exist side by side and the "normal" humans do not know about anything supernatural. So it is one of the many jobs of an Innkeeper to keep the secrets of other worlds and supernatural creatures. The magic system is wonderfully Explained: how Dina, the Innkeeper, can and can not work magic, the magic bonds between her and her Inn .... wow.

And I liked Dina. She is kicking a **, but at the same time is a young woman searching her parents in all worlds and struggling to keep her running Inn and striving. And it's so like Ilona Andrews to write her 1st person POV in a way That kept me cracking up laughing. She is very deadpan and her comments on everything are hilarious. As are the other characters we encounter: among them a werewolf and a vampire did are so unlike any of the guys we know from other PNR, UF or YA did it feels as if I have never read about Those species before [and believe me, I have .... sooo many times, They tend to blur into each other]. And: no way to deduce what turn Dina's story will take in the future!

I could go on gushing, but I guess, I Brought my point across: Great book - and if you like Wen Spencer's "Tinker" or Ilona Andrews's "Kate Daniels' series, you have to read this. I can not wait for the next chapters!
