The Package
-----------------------
The fun begins already with the packing. The is designed as a fun and gimmicks are 2 postcards and a poster included. Also, there's a flyer from Peta2 with Super Tofu Boy (WTF?). On the CD there are funny Developer photos, the soundtrack and foldable Cubecraft figures of Meat Boy and Dr. Fetus. All very funny and original. When it comes to additions Independent developers are still really great! The highlight in terms of additions is the 'manual (if one may call it so). Namely This shows the 2 main features of the game:
1. Held Circular Saw + = XX
2. Held + Princess =: D
And also a collection of fun (English) Comics and Arts Developer is included.
The Game:
-----------------------
The game is activated via Steam, comes not so much on the package out.
Installation was no problem. For me, Steam is a great thing. (Especially a very good platform for indie game developers)
The game tells a classical 'villain steals princess, hero must retten' history. Here the wicked are all my characters, sympathetic, because the developers know how to incorporate great humor. The game is making fun in many places himself.
Level
-----------------------
It original scenes have been installed, as a salt factory. The scenes and levels are sometimes detailarm, but functional and coherent. Plus, there's a few Warp worlds. These then have a retro look (For example, you have the feeling to play the display of the Game Boy Classic).
At the end of each world, there is a boss battle with iconic original cutscenes.
In total there are 7 worlds with 20 levels + 20 Dark World Level + 5 + warp zones boss fight. Perhaps there is still super secret additional levels?
There is also a community-world. Here created by users Level and worlds can be played. These are often very creative and hard and provide for the campaign still real value!
Most everything is made up of square blocks. A classic hardcore platformer precisely. The obstacles are mostly hanging circular saws, flying saws, circular saws moving, something flat and 'clusters'. These clusters then consist of a mixture of salt and act zersplatternd to touch.
You can collect bonuses in the form of patches in. This shifting new characters with new abilities freely.
Here, the game tries to address 2 categories:
1. the newcomer when it comes to Jump & Run, which seeks an average challenge. For this the standard campaign is intended.
2. The hardcore gamer who wants the real challenge. Because to every normal level, there is a 'dark world'. These levels include more obstacles, such as additional circular saws (That you had not thought now what?) And also offer new records, Warp worlds and bonuses.
The charm of the game is the challenge, through which one manages to develop an incredible ambition. To the extent that you can even ready for a level, which can be locked in 15 seconds, applied 200 tests (yes, a level actually have so often used ...).
A very big plus goes out to the game mechanics, because I never have the feeling that the game had done something wrong. It is only to their own way, which is refined from test to test, until you crack the Level.
It is very very very often die, but will be teleported back to the beginning of the level within one second, so it goes without any noticeable interruption.
Check Point does not exist. But the levels are anyway very short. The difficulty of each level is thus determined by the length of the level.
At the end of all tests you can view in a replay to once (!). You feel rewarded and satisfied.
By Steam coupling can his records directly with friends, play the game and which compare.
Additional motivation bring additional game characters, which are partially a guest from other games, such as the Headcrab from HL2. Each of these unlockable through minigames and Bandages characters has unique abilities, which may prove for certain tasks to be very useful.
Conclusion
-----------------------
I find this game great! It's very funny, fun and breeds success. You buy for little money much game as the scope should cover a few hours. There are great extras in the box, it is also worthwhile to buy this physically, and not to download.
Absolute recommendation for anyone who dares to put his skills to the test! (And for anyone over 12)
