I'm still of the Pentax MX-1 excited ... the image quality is excellent, the optics a dream, taking pictures is fun! However: What have the technicians of Pentax intended to obstruct no hot shoe, is beyond me. This to me actually missing, at least I've come in the past few months on the taste, indirectly to flash (with a K-5) (Product Photos at Ebay, photos of my wife and my dog). That's why I have a Nikon P7700 (together with a Metz 44 AF-1 flash) bought me, also because of the vari-angle display, the gold is worth. The extended zoom range compared to the MX-1 is also sometimes quite pleasant, I do not want to miss him.
Nevertheless, the image quality of the MX-1 is also achieved by a Nikon P7700 not quite, even though the P7700 delivers outstanding images ever. The optics of the MX-1 is probably better, therefore also 'only' a 4x zoom.
