First: Anyone who has played "Lego Star Wars" with enthusiasm, can safely access: An intuitive control (as opposed to another review here, I describe the X-box version of the final game and not a PC demo!), The overall game mechanics is like the "Star Wars predecessor" (there are few differences among other things, that you can draw objects now and not only push) and it has the same, incredibly beautifully designed "Wuselfaktor". The game is completely in German. Even if the characters do not speak, but lead a kind of mimic Entertainment, which - makes for laughter to the players - especially in the partly incredibly funny sequences.
The game begins with the intro of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" - Indy and his helpers are in search of the temple, where the golden idol head is. The usual humor are defused Lego typically the shocking moments of the film. Who sits down with his children before the console, not worry about violence or horror need to make. Laudable!
(The Nazi thugs are amended accordingly - here Lego saw no way to maintain this and banished all symbols hindeuteten it.)
After completion of the 1st level of the player lands in the University and now has the choice to play the first 3 Indy movies, "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," and "The Last Crusade" ( hilarious made: Sean Connery's Lego figure) are now unlocked and can be selected directly!.
Each of the three films consists of 5-6 individual levels which need to be first played in "Story Mode", ie with predetermined characters. After successful completion of each level you get different figures in an overview unlocked (a total of more than 60 pieces), so that the same level again now can play with other figures that open up completely different solutions, or can get to places that the previous character remained closed.
Because - to master not only the actual challenge the level it goes back about to collect a certain number of coins, and collect 10 golden relics and ultimately to find a file container that is well hidden in each level. (Anyone who has played Lego Star Wars, this is also already known.)
Since you can almost never reach those challenges with the (given) characters in story mode, attracts the task to try it with other figures - a long-term motivation is thus given. So the player can try the other characters who all have different strengths and abilities. Nice new idea: Some characters have specific fears (eg Indy - like in the movies - from snakes.) That must be taken into account.
While the film-use of Indy in the cinema is over quickly, the individual levels are replenished with additional challenges. This -not quite originalgetreue- design of the levels is the game full benefit, the the or the players (the whole game is designed for 1 or 2 players) intiteling their money's worth:
The individual levels are filled with (mostly crisp but fair) puzzles, hopping and climbing, with short battle against opponents deposits and the search for specific artifacts.
Unlike other games, the solution is often obvious, sometimes (especially in the beginning) helpful explanations appear that help the player.
With so much light it is clear that there is also some shade:
Some levels may have somewhat unimaginative, also come some opponents and some cases very abruptly that the player hardly has a chance to respond to it yet. However, since the character can never die, but loses some of its collected coins again, the "nerve factor" here remains low.
Also, the game could have been a little longer - in story mode even inexperienced players will need no more than 15-20 hours to Indy from the temple of gold idol to lead to the end of the last crusade. Of course, the extended again play with other characters here, the season, but it would have been a bit more game.
Last gripe: Who does not know the Indiana Jones movies (it should actually still be one or the other ...!), Can not cope with the story. The individual episodes are strung together incoherently. This does not detract from the game though, but still ensures helplessness when players what he is doing here. There's only one thing beforehand and get a look at the parts 3 previously published!
Nevertheless, children are fun to the characters, have the wit and the many colorful challenges and adventures, adults are the original soundtrack by John Williams and the many puzzles to be enthusiastic about the Indy feeling.
My conclusion: Hardly any other game currently gather all the generations from the console and so well entertained!
All in all, one of the few games that do not require monster violence and heavy weapons and still make a lot of fun.
The various game modes longer captivating and motivating "play every now and then" to.
