Furthermore, I see the beginning of Knopfler's solo career as a clear musical section to what he has delivered in the "Dire Straits Times". I regret the times already, because I lack even one or the other sometimes loud and groovy Kracher. But I also like the quiet, calm and thoughtful way with Knopfler as well and every now and then is indeed once again what this case, what happens in the legs.
The albums "Kill To Get Crimson" and "Shangri-La" was for me after the direct hits "Golden Heart" and "Sailing to Philadelphia" rather disappointing, although there were also great songs on the albums, but they were to me really too little and the rest fell off but a little too far. Above all, I mean - to have found that the songs were more and more worn by Knopfler's voice - purely subjective. And that is my view now not even "a full-length" - I like Knopfler's voice when the instrumental environment is right, supplements and adjusts the voice of Knopfler perfect, but the main attraction of the entire work it is clearly misplaced.
And here is "Get Lucky" clearly again a step in the right direction. Really great music that invites you to dream, which again strongly represented Celtic sounds get under your skin and if the songs then times take a little pace, you will be entirely swept away. Also is again a "bluesy" Song with "You can not beat the house" here, which makes me "tap" with the foot and snap my finger, also class of "choir" in the chorus - also the beautiful children's choir in " Remembrance Day ".
And also the typical Knopfler guitar sound, the "buzzing" the plucked with the fingers Saitenspiel is plenty to hear again, this captivating sound that often indicates the melodies and more with this approach captivates as crashing out playing riffs. Finally back more guitar parts, which are as always well placed. It reminds very much on his album "Golden Heart" and the film music, "Piper To The End" has unmistakable similarities with "Local Hero - Going home".
There are two or three pieces, drop the little that I rather casually hear, but they do not fall off to the extent that I press the skip button, you can listen through the album very well, although I have not yet managed , several times without hearing some pieces in succession, because they have so excited and carried away me.
Conclusion:
Who about is aware that they are buying a solo album by Mark Knopfler and no Dire Straits factory, who was of "Golden Heart" thrilled and can be inspired for the Celtic timbre, which is this folk album with a lot of goosebumps potential love. Title recommendations I give here even not really, because everyone will find his favorite - there are definitely enough candidates present on the album.
