Last Jorn's works were always easily predictable and sometime boring. But what is delivered here is pure variety. Dracula - Swing of Death is a concept album, telling the story of Count Dracula and his relationship with Mina. He describes the inner struggle between his bloodthirstiness and love for Mina. Mina is the way sung on the album by Lena Floitmoen Borrensen and this in a grandiose manner. She meets the notes at 100% and gives the album a special touch.
Actually this album for the stage is perfect. Can be thought of literally how the two perform this album as a play with the volume control to stop and eyes closed in front of the local 5.1 system. Jorn just distinctive voice shows here once again how versatile it is.
The question remains, in what musical direction we should classify this album. And I'm doing me so damn hard. Because somewhere bonds to hear at very many Acts. A bit of Meat Loaf, Rainbow, Dio. Somehow all of a bit and the style a little ol school. Oh yes, there's still a certain Trond Holter, serving the guitar here. He goes -also when the namesake front steht- on the disk under a little. The Gitarenarbeit is solid and I think even after 10 hear no vulnerability. But it can be hard to get the two voices. Nevertheless, one must acknowledge without envy that he. At Queen of the Dead or True Love Through Blood already powerful attacks in the strings and strongly reminiscent of guitar god Yngwie Malmsteen
As Anspieltipps were here into the dark, queen of the dead and walking on water called. Although 2015 is still damn young and even albums by many big acts are in the queue, so the album for me is already one of the top 5 albums of 2015 and an absolute buy recommendation for anyone who just on Dio, Rainbow or Meat Loaf stand.
