App:
The German translation is a disaster. There probably was sitting sadly off just a translation machine. The reference texts consequently also have a lot of syntax errors and are a bit cryptic to understand in part. But well, since the operation as a whole is rather simplistic and self-explanatory, you can get over that in some way. Still, I would have expected here from Kensington significantly more.
The app itself is quite handsomely designed and operated untuitiv. It can take up to five Key Fobs teach, for then individual alarms on your smartphone and Proximo are adjustable. Via in-app purchase you can also download a Composer (99 cents) to create your own tunes. If you do not want, can choose between 11 melodies for the Key Fob and select 15 melodies for the smartphone.
Within the app can be rest areas define where no alert should be made when the Key Fob leaves the BT-range smartphone. These rest areas are identified by GPS signal. This works in my experience quite well.
In order for the alarm to function at all, the app must always run in the background. If you deactivate it, makes a the key fob's attention by short beep sequence. After that is not alarming, neither of the key fobs of Smarphones still more possible.
The range indicator of the app I find a bit sluggish and imprecise. All five bars are actually only appears when the key fob is right next to the smartphone. Varies even at a distance of about 50 cm display between three and four bars. From about one meter, it will be only three and from about 3 meters only two bars. Exceeding the range area incl. Alarm is from about 10 meters indoors (in mehrern floors even earlier).
For key fob:
The build quality is okay, but not quality. One has the impression of cheap plastic. For the price but absolutely okay. Very good securing the battery compartment is by a screw, so that the button battery can not accidentally omitted. The piezo speaker is very loud in my view, and clearly audible even over a greater distance. The button gives a good pressure point and can be operated präszise. The question, however, is how well the key fob against rain and spray water protected is.
Conclusion:
Whether I still DETERMINED me a second Proximo remains to be seen. Of course, this also depends on the battery consumption. Since I have anyway always enabled on my iPhone 6 but BTLE (eg because of the automatic connection with the FSE my vehicle and the use of some components of Beurer Health), I expect the smartphone itself no greater impairment. What bothers me personally something is the fact that the Kensington app needs to run in the background permanently. I usually finish my apps when I no longer need. So here I have to adapt my behavior somewhat.
EDIT: The initially described problem that the range indicator flashes and the app only no connection is possible for key fob, joined yesterday, unfortunately again. So that part is unfortunately unusable for me and there is a devaluation on a star. A return to the seller is unfortunately no longer possible, since this indeed the key fob as new but, unfortunately noticed too late for me, declared as a private sale. Did not know that Amazon also private sales can be made. Learned again what it.
