I find the previously recorded images very sharp and also much sharper than the 18-105 mm kit lens. The focus sits (almost) always in the right place from which I can not say in particular 18-105. The images are much sharper than the kit lens, well the price is, of course, many times over.
Compared to the 85mm, it is roughly equal, just more versatile due to the wide zoom range. For guests staying the 85 mm with a 1.8 aperture, thus provides in low light more reserves.
The macro is in the Portrait area considerably weaker, but also has another application.
In relation to my other lenses, it is of course very very big, but in weight, it is I think. That was not to buy the 2,8er for me the main reason.
Despite the enormous acquisition price, I am very happy to have bought the lens, it is definitely worthwhile. It also offers the possibility of upgrade times to change to the FX-bearing. I'm so happy!
