Since I can possess besides Darth Maul the other Ultimate Collector Star Wars figures (7194 Yoda, General Grievous 10186 & 10225 R2-D2) from Lego say that it probably is the most impressive in this figure. It begins with the simple black and white but beautifully designed package to, really exciting it is when you look in assembly instructions, the kit is to be assembled in mosaic design, ie there are 2D pictures are shown from the top which Darth Maul layer by layer can be formed, This makes the structure extremely demanding. Each step can be more and more suspect what dimensions will take the finished piece (the size of a 'real' skulls ... ^^).
Since this set of 2001 and at that time so many special parts, as now, were not yet available, there are the designers still managed to create a very realistic-looking set which consists almost exclusively of standard parts, respectful! Proportions, stability & Details are simply good. The 'old' stones work somehow to some valent and more vivid than the new. Although built of Lego bricks acts Darth Maul, especially from some distance so realistic that visitors have already frightened at the sight. Unfortunately can guess always difficult to photos of detail and the size of the sets.
Conclusion: An often something unterschäztes, but in my opinion one of the best UCS sets. On top of that is one of the few that of the prequel trilogy (Star Wars Episode 1-3) were ever produced. For Star Wars fans and collectors highly recommended.
PS: Because the set is no longer manufactured for over a decade, it is of course now a rarity and original sealed only more difficult or expensive to purchase. With a little luck, patience and research you can get it but may still relatively cheap (at least in used condition).
