Wow! I'm so amazed and excited about what from this album. For me it is the best U2 album since And the good thing "Achtung Baby!": U2 can still rock! The first single "Vertigo" was already suspect a tougher approach, but so wild it was not for me. Just in "All Because Of You" impresses with hard guitar riffs. The other songs are U2 typical rock songs. Among them are beautiful soulful pieces such as "Miracle Drug", "A Man And A Woman" (great song, beautifully melancholic!) And "Crumbs From Your Table" (good text). My favorite song is "City Of Blinding Lights", which reminds me in approach to the classic "Where The Streets Have No Name", but then is still dreamy. Even the bluesy "Love & Peace Or Else", which still sounds a bit stranger than the other, I like it. Only the two pieces "Sometimes You Can not Make It On Your Own" and "One Step Closer" are somewhat weaker, and look almost boring in comparison with the others. The secret of this good record is probably the fact that U2 has to rely on the old strengths and the guitar more in the foreground again. In addition, the songs are straightforward, no-frills and not so electronically wrapped and atomised as with recent productions. U2 have created in the eighties rock classics that you just have to love. To whom in the last decade were too soft and commercially, with this album has no excuse more.
