The Complete Lyrics 1978-2013 is the revised edition of the total written by Nick Cave in the years 1978-2013 lyrics. The texts are in English only.
There are gathered the texts of his former band The Birthday Party, the remaining band Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and recent projects such as the band Grinderman. Also in this book brings together the texts for the B-Sides and also to films such as The Far Side of the World and The Proposition.
In this issue, however, only the lyrics are found, the Nick Cave has even written. So you look for The Bad Seeds classics such as Stranger Than kidness, which, although Nick Cave sang, but texted by Anita Lane, in vain.
The lyrics are structured according albums and years of publication. The appendix contains a song list sorted by title and song beginnings.
This version is for fans of Nick Cave and the extent of interest that there is a foreword by Will Self and an extract from Nick Cave's lecture The Secret Life often the Love Songs, in the Nick Cave, inter alia, explains what makes a true love song for him and how he came to write. These two additions I found very interesting, because they help one Nick Cave and better understanding of his songs.
To Nick Cave lyrics:
So take all in words I can not understand why his lyrics exert such a fascination. Fully fathomed I have not it.
Perhaps the answer lies in the diversity of his creations, his versatility, musically and lyrically. On the one hand to the heart going love songs, on the other brutal killers ballads. And this only as an example of the many contrasts that surrounded this man. (Just compare times a The Birthday Party song with a song from the published 1997 The Bad Seeds album The Boatmans call and this in turn with a Grinderman song.)
Alternatively, the key lies in the deep connection that trigger his lyrics. Because Nick Cave is not an artist who vorheuchelt beauty where there is none. He looks the darkness the face and leaves sadness.
In addition, Nick Cave is a master in the use of language. He writes visually stunning and can trigger a few words, the strongest feelings - often traversed by constantly existing pain, doubt and despair that are unparalleled.
He is dedicated to broken people on the margins of society. Also fear of loss and loneliness, broken love and resulting Weltschmerz are recurring motifs. But he also has many ironic and self-ironic lyrics in which he. The world and ridiculed itself, this side has not received from him in my opinion, sufficient attention
Since not always clear and often somewhat veiled offer Nick Cave lyrics for everyone who comes into contact with them, a very own interpretation. His words enchant and are surrounded by a dense atmosphere.
Conclusion: Nick Cave is a singer, which is worthwhile to devote himself to his lyrics, because they account for a large part of the fascination to his music and perfecting the tunes on grandiose manner. Part disturbingly, some hauntingly beautiful, sometimes informative, sometimes pointless, always verbally at a high level and poetic, of a certain tragedy and also drawn occasional comedy, Nick Cave Lyrics are recommended not only for fans of his music while reading his voice have in mind, but in total for lovers of fine, witty, but also wacky and gross poetry.
