Already after the first few bars of the - too often -gespielten D minor concerto is clear: this is about another Mozart: not by Beethoven by noctem ad lucem, no virtuosic bravado of the soloist, but subdued sadness of a composer, which his thrownness into existence despite his young age is always aware. It is a real concept album that we hear here, and as we have long not heard it. Heavy, dark orchestral, slow tempo, nothing jazzy, as one might perhaps expect from Keith Jarrett, but deeply serious seriousness. The Adagio and Fugue in C minor is the kampromisslos tragic farewell. Great, a must for any Mozart friend!
