Now for a little over 3 years I use Apple products. After the iPod came the iPhone, and eventually the iPad. These products fascinate me again and again. The extremely good workmanship and the great operating system like it very much.
Until now I have always used Windows computers - both professionally and personally.
A little over 2 weeks I've decided to buy me this MacBook. This decision will also be carefully considered, because a good piece not just a little cost.
Today, after 2 weeks, I can say with a clear conscience that it was the right decision.
The packaging is very simple. The known but already from the iPhone and the iPad.
When you open an immediate MacBook catches your eye. Among them still hide the power supply (more on that later) and a guide, which is not necessary but.
The MacBook is incredibly well made. There are no gaps, no rough edges. Through the aluminum housing, the MacBook is very elegant, but also robust.
On the right side are near the power cord connector still 2 Thunderbolt ports, a USB port, and a headset input to find. On the left there is a further USB port, an SD card reader and an HDMI output.
However, two USB ports are too little to me. A USB hub should help as soon.
As Windows users we are astonished when the MacBook starts for the first time. It pass less than 2 minutes since the MacBook is ready for operation. You log in with their Apple ID that bears his name and a created a user account. The menu is totally understandable.
The large touchpad mouse is unnecessary. The multi-touch gestures allow up to 5 fingers and are totally practical in everyday work.
Directly after setting up stings a desktop eye. The Retina display is really sharp. You have to stick with the nose on the screen to see the pixels. The colors are very strong and the viewing angle stability is perfect. Because the display glass goes to the edge of the MacBooks, the MacBook is very modern.
At the brightness there is also nothing to complain about. The display can be read even when the weather outdoors. The sun should not radiate directly on the screen only.
When it becomes a little darker, do not have to set aside the same MacBook. The hidden in the keyboard LEDs adapt to the ambient light and not light too bright.
The battery life is awesome. In normal use, to get loose during the day. However, I use the MacBook rather stationary. So that's not so important to me. The great battery life should still be mentioned.
The built-in fans are not to listen while browsing. If, however, more complex programs, for example, Parallels starts, they are a little louder.
Games thanks to the dedicated graphics card really playable. Under Boot Camp with Windows 8.1 running all the latest titles. But you should set the graphics settings down a bit.
On the operating system, I will not go into detail, because that would go beyond the scope of this review.
The power supply must also be mentioned. Because the connection is magnetic. That is, if you pull on the cable, the MacBook does not immediately fall off the table, but the cable simply dissolves only.
My Conclusion:
This MacBook you have to make any compromises. Neither the performance nor in mobility. With 16GB of memory, 512GB SSD, dedicated graphics card and a current Intel processor, the MacBook is equipped for the future.
The only downside is probably the high price. However, I am this MacBook worth every penny.
