The second point that I consider negative and justifies the 3 stars in total: the lack of answers to problems / exercises proposed. The author's argument in this regard is that "students who really want to learn are supposed to do the exercises without looking at the solutions." Either. But how do I make sure I have understood and assimilated matter if we do not even let me see if what I do is right? And this is a book intended for students graduating from high school or, if you prefer, entering university student ... a sensible minimum that wishes to engage in studies in mathematics and who buys this kind of works already knows that he will exercise by itself, without looking stupid as he answers perhaps did when he was 10 years old ...
I also visited the site of De Boeck, and wrote an email to the address mentioned on the site in question in order to make my comments and ask them if their solutions to exercises in question existed and were available somewhere ... I never received a response (I read this book there is a little over a year, maybe new editions are published since ... but given the non-existent response to that email I sent, I doubt that the solutions of the exercises have been added to them, or if? ...)
So to summarize: If you are fluent in English, buy the original version. And if you are willing to do without lots of corrected exercises, and if mistakes Math / French do not pose you problems, let yourself be tempted by this translation ... it's maybe because I'm bad math mistakes and that the absence of corrected me so angry when I read this book. Who knows ...
