Me I am Mariah -. The Elusive Chanteuse (Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

I'm still amazed at how many people get riled about the fact that Mariah Carey is not as such "before". With "sooner" is in Germany the period between 1993 and 1996 meant that included a couple of ballads and a Christmas classic. Only a song, and that was just a cover, managed to top the charts, the others languished all in the top 20. Since 1997, Mariah Carey their Hip Hop and R'n'B remixes that it has always been of their pop songs were simply packed directly on the album and the orchestral ballads constructed something simpler. This formula has not changed since 17 years, yet the funfair techno love market is still confused when one of their hits is so great in the United States that he even entertaining sloshes to Europe. Germany in particular does not like divas and is not interested in the vocal acrobatics. This is also this album, for which the artist has left five years to not change. Mrs. Carey are still not even bother as all other contemporary R'n'B artists to sound: no distorted vocals, no electronic beats and catchy vocal no repetitions (a la Lady Gaga / Katy Perry / Rihanna / Black Eyed Peas etc .). This was also in the last two decades never actually different. Nor her penchant for the retouched almost unrecognizable cover photo has changed. Even her face is as good as on any album of the same - one might almost say all the images would have been incurred on the same day.
Musically, however, and that is what personally interests me most, Mariah Carey has not been repeated, it has remained true. "Me. I am Mariah" is a consistently high-quality album, in which each note, each breath sounds like a carefully and lovingly composed Gesamtkunstwerk. For me, it is still too early to assess the individual songs, since it has not so much the artist created it to fabricate a catchy tune for the next. The compositions are not as quick to take as surprising tempo changes and especially the full range of their unique voice that will create tension. Like a good wine, the rich sound unfolds only after a while. What stands out in principle, is the Gospel touch in the ballads of the 70s sound in the late 80s and the Uptempos Beat in the hip-hop collaborations. Once it goes but otherwise - ironically at the track with the 'strangest' titles. "Thirsty" could have just as easily come from Britney Spears. Whether that's enough to a mainstream hit, remains yet to be seen. That Mariah Carey her songs always writes itself, will not be recognized in this work. It almost seems as if distracted her voice and her appearance thereof. If you listen to her but properly, it can be seen that the lady has a lot to offer and lyrically. The ballads are lyrical and very emotional at the faster pieces she shows humor and wit. Of course, it comes to love, in one way or another, but that topic is already more universal than this ?! Overall, I am satisfied as a fan: "#Beautiful" was my summer hit in 2013, "Money" or / and "Meteorite" probably my summer hit 2014 "Cry" is on the soundtrack of my life, "Camouflage" maybe, "Heavenly" hear I instead always go to church on Sundays, "Thirsty" I'll want me anyway with a DJ, "The Art of Letting Go" write behind the ears and the rest embrace than what it is: another part of the legacy of the last great diva. Music can make the woman that is really good.
