Background:
For many years (more than ten), I am a "normal" PC users with Windows 95 through XP and now Windows 7 as an operating system.
For the study I just had to rely on a Windows PC, as for example, most of the software at the university just ran underneath and a PC was standard hardware.
About a Mac (ie on an Apple product) At the time I never thought about it. Not for a moment. Honest.
About two years ago I went for the first time come into contact with a Macbook and the Mac OS on a friend and was not immediately convinced.
Gradually, however, I could certain details on the hardware and software convincing and the thought of a private Macbook slowly began to mature.
After the last hardware update the Macbook Pro Series in April 2010 it was now so far: my first Macbook Pro unibody 15.4 "has been ordered.

Unpacking:

After switching on and setting up the OS I've looked at the case in more detail. No eSATA, ExpressCard or similar On the front you will find the status light for the suspend mode. Bluetooth and Wireless LAN are naturally onboard.
Impression:
The aluminum of the housing feels very pleasant. The whole device makes a very sophisticated look, with 2,54kg somewhat difficult.
The build quality is very good, but you can ask.
The keyboard is good (Chiclett, keys are individually, "island keyboard"), you get used to the keyboard layout (one misses at the beginning of a few keys like Delete or Pos1 and End) everything is OK. For instance, Fn + Backspace is removing. Everything else can be found easily, and would also be good and practical under Windows (eg Fn + cursor left for Pos1 in the text). The keyboard is light, which is rarely found in standard notebooks.
The WLAN reception works well, you have to enter the WPA Key of the wireless network and off you go. Safari (the default browser on MacOS) I use non - Opera is my choice. The installation of software running on a Mac, unlike Windows. Simply drag the program (usually packaged as a .dmg, as a CD image) in the program folder of the Mac - ready. It could not be. The Finder is like the Windows Explorer, and always active. The OS quickly and responded well - to get as Umlerner way quickly.
The fan I have not heard even after long use, only the hard disk rushes easily. The battery should last up to 9 hours. Could get there, if you dim the very good (unfortunately reflective, matt surcharge also available) display.
The touchpad with multi-touch is great. Two-finger scrolling is great - even zooming eg in Opera.
Did not think that one can rethink so quickly. Much can be discovered in a playful and harmonious.
Who cares that the window will not be automatically maximized as in Windows, but there are also a very good freeware solution.
Software There is a lot for the Mac, also free!
Conclusion:
The computing power is good, you get a beautiful notebook (where you can also install Windwos with Boot Camp or Parallels thanks also as a virtual machine) with a (relatively) good OS. The one or the other little thing bothers at the beginning, but the system is still thought through and you have to try simple. I will certainly not equal to switch everything, but profit from both Systemem (Windows and MacOS X)!
Clear Tip: Buy and Enjoy! For technophobes suited as the set up and use the OS is very easy, the hardware well.
