Scope of supply:
It is common, clear the dock, a manual and power supply.
Function:
At the dock you get 3 USB 3.0 ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports. This is particularly important because the Surface itself only has a USB port. In addition, as Gigabit Ethernet is available. Furthermore, there is the 3.5 mm jack audio connector and the mini-DisplayPort. Thus, you can connect up to two monitors, one on the tablet and a at the dock. The internal display is then not available. I use this adapter of MDP to HDMI or VGA. 4K at 60 Hz at DisplayPort, I unfortunately do not get, at 30Hz works 4K.
Docking to be easy going, put it back the surface, close the bracket, finished. Unfortunately, the power adapter of the dock is different than that of the surface, one would have a replacement if defective. Well, so can the Surface power supply remain in the pocket. The keyboard can be tuned during docking. The angle of inclination is unfortunately no longer be changed, if the Surface Pro 3 is in the dock.
In the ports it would have been nice to imprint the label not only the port but also above. So you do not look behind the dock or at the dock around, but if you even want to change cables.
The stylus can park sideways magnetically at the dock. Nice idea.
I do not know if it's just me, but is the Surface in the Dock turn the fan more times than in normal tablet mode.
My Conclusion:
The dock makes more than sense. In the office is thus from the Surface a full desktop computer with a large screen. Will you take the surface then quickly, easily undock and off they go. I find super simple and practical. Therefore, I forgive - despite the high price of the dock - a full five stars. That's me, the relief of working life value. When will wireless USB and when sets WiDi by: D?
