Missing moderations - Udo and Pepe in great

It's a strange feeling, the last time to unwrap a CD with a live concert by Udo Jürgens - as ever I have seen the concerts several times "live", as always, the anticipation is great - but it is also a wistful feeling - never again give it a new program this last great entertainer and rounder - his "last show" was really his last concert - this is not like the Whittaker, Carpendale, Mouskouri and Load this world - Udo's self-image has always been that not he, but the Fate determines when his last concert will be - and just as it has come.

The Live CD is available in three versions: the "normal" double CD, a Saturn / Media Markt Edition and Amazon Edition. While in previous special editions Udos a track was also present at least (z. B. there was in "I Do not Know" in the worldview-Edition an exclusive mix of hammer-songs "Give me a dream"), this time the conditions are different only in photo-inserts. The Amazon edition is really very nicely done by the presentation ago - the LP format evaluates the beautiful photos Dominik Beck's on, also the booklet in LP format has succeeded. . Whether you're willing to pay a 10 EUR more than, for example, for the Saturn Edition, everyone must decide for themselves - in this version are a few photos in the CD format as bonus.

The concert (and hence the CD) starts with Udo's classic "The world needs songs" - a spine-tingling song which was sung at the concert of Udo from the "Off" and was presented with a great video animation, in which the Travel by Udo and his songs was virtually traced around the globe. (Note: On the DVD will be shown what could be the live concert not see, namely as Udo interpreted the song - leaning on the shoulder of an employee - before him a music stand with the text - in my view, would have been better, the to let act video animation on itself).

It continues with three new songs from his latest studio album "Real Life": The swing number "All for Love", the love song "I enjoy Please consider for you" and the pathos-song "Life You are "show that Udo even in old age still had something to say, and was still a composer at the height. As usual for many years, Udo has once again selected older songs, which he put back into the program. While earlier natural pearls were selected with whom hardly anyone had expected, highlights of recent tours have been selected this time. "I want to - I can, I can - I will" is for me one of the most beautiful songs ever Udos. Nice that it was part of the final concert. Of the duet partners who had previously sung the song with Udo (z. B. Linda de Mol, Helene Fischer, Sabine Manke, Eva Lindt) pierces the contributors here Dorothea Lorene out positive, although the original with Sonja Kimmons for me to today remains unmatched.

"The dragon-selling" is the favorite song of his last life partner - äääääh, politically correct, it means that Udo particularly like the song - and he therefore felt in recent years it has played on every tour (!). Although the lyrics written by Irma Holder song is certainly beautiful and obviously with infinitely many people always goes down well, it would, in view of Udo's incredibly large repertoire not again have to be there - but this is certainly a matter of opinion.

With "I'm for it," the situation is similar - and that's probably a song that Udo very cared about - even here it is striking that it sounded more often than average in recent years - but has his or Udo Arranger Jörg Achim Keller a very original great new instrumental solo installed - also the text has been slightly modified compared to the original ("at themselves hold").

"Again and again the sun rises" - as opposed to the Elliman version of his birthday show I find the duet version with the grand Stefanie Suhner very successful - especially the two voices sung final part is worthy of all honor and presented sensitively.

In his symphonic poem "The Crown of Creation" Udo was obvious to the end especially proud. The plan was well, the songs "word", "Go forth and multiply" and even "The Crown of Creation" with symphony orchestra perform the work - a pity that there is no longer happened.

With "Closer", "I'd 'do it again" and "A thousand years is a day," Udo chose again classics of the late 70s and early 80s, which probably particularly to his heart - "I often did mouth burned me - hab 'what was stupid, called stupid "- texts such as these are the ones who have Udo in a league of its own can play.

As it has always been customary in Udo, so it was with his last concert - at the end of the night always included the major hit success - this time Udo has not his fans disappointed and delivered his classic powerful - that the physically 80 years was still possible, is amazing - my impression he really concentrated all its forces and consumed at the concert evenings - until the very end just one of the very old school professional.

As for the mixing, I heard critical voices, the choir has been mixed too loud - I personally feel that not what perhaps is because I love vocal harmonies and especially the soprano Stefanie Suhner like that. There are also voices that spoke of "distorted horns" - my subjective Eindrck is that the mix as a whole in order and not objectionable.

Short one word to DVD or BluRay Disc: The very moving closing song "Ten to eleven" implies rightfully that Udo's concerts usually have a length of about three hours. Considering the pause time and the start off, stay 140 to 150 minutes Show duration - on the BluRay be found but "only" 122 minutes. Would it really too much to ask, just once really show the whole concert with all the announcements and all the songs - at least in one of the most popular "Special Editions"? From self-evident in other artists bonus material, I do not even want to talk here.

As for the start of the BluRay .. - clearly you can hear piano playing, but can not identify who created the sounds in the live concert - Udo is obviously not, as you can see the setting at the beginning of "both sides of the curtain" ,

The hectic sections may correspond to the zeitgeist - like they do me - but again is something certainly a matter of taste, and it's strange when Udo 80 years lospowert the Hit-Medley and the camera on the sax playing Pepe swings ...

All the criticisms defiance must be said that it will never again be an entertainer of the class of Udo Jürgens' - I am convinced. A cabaret singer with such lyrical depth, at the same time presents pop and symphonic poems in just a concert, which was about five decades on tour and was accompanied here by major orchestras and always endeavored to reach current issues, without forgetting musical claim - the is, I think, unique. Now it is time to prepare his legacy worthy.

My hope that Udos environment a better remembers -Z. B. in view of special-Editionen- was refuted. Rausschneiden of all announcements at the CD, accounting for a song, NULL Bonus on DVD or BluRay - does not speak for a rethink. When you read in it BluRay booklet "editorial Backstage Susanne Heer" I wonder what this lady has done - NULL backstage footage - and editorial is on the disc, nothing happens except arbitrary curtailment of announcements .. After all, you have obviously from traditional editorial errors goodbye - the songs are apparently actually listed correctly in the booklet (- even that is actually self-evident, but by no means have been several times when Udo releases so ... -).

Perhaps one day yes but again worthy processed Udos work - even if only as part of a re-releases, like the now fragmentary also works of older records with Peter Alexander. Udo would have more than deserved for its unique life's work that is handled worthy with its Lifetime Achievement Award.
