"Vol. 2" is, as the name suggests, the second part of the "Lifetime" series of Jay-Z. After the sensational "Reasonable Doubt", a street album the first order, and the resulting success, Hova slipped but increasingly from the commercial. That brought him to the scene, although to his earned respect, but because "Vol. 1" and "Vol. 2" sold so well, Jigga was, due to the many $ signs in his eyes and the ringing of the cash register in his ears, blind and deaf to criticism. Certainly you have to give the critics partly right, because the lyrics are partly really very shallow, arrogant and materiel what let tracks like "Money, Cash, Hoes", "Paper Chase" or "Money Is not A Thing" no doubt. However, one must also say that the beats are but become quite good and Iceberg with its simple, yet cool Flow delivers a very good job. The album starts off behavior with the single "Hard Knock Life". The beat is indeed become quite good, but S.Carter raps somehow bored and the children singing in the chorus quite annoying after a while. Really cool, I find "Nigga What, Nigga Who". The Beat brings the boxes to their limits and the Jigga-Man raps just damn good. Also "Money, Cash, Hoes" with DMX, which was produced by Swizz Beatz, is a highlight. The name persuaded a while to negative stereotypes, but here applies to beat and rap the same as its predecessors. Only DMX raps not quite as good as usual. Real is also good "Can I Get A .." with Ja Rule and Amil, which actually comes from the "Rush Hour" soundtrack, but again was with draufgepackt. The instrumental is damn groovy and Jay and Yes rap so damn casual and good about the fact that it makes the song a highlight of the album. "It's Like That" is strongly reminiscent of "Reasonable Doubt". The beat is very simply and quietly, even Jay-Z raps rather quiet and with some deeperen Lyrics. Totaly also a damn good track. These have become very good song then gets even a number of successful songs: "Ride Or Die", rather quiet, but good to listen; "A Week Ago", again quiet and chilled, but from a song, participates in the legend Too Short, you would definitely need to do more; "Coming Of Age" on "Reasonable Doubt" one of the hits that continued acts unfortunately partially unimaginative, Memphis Bleek also raps nowhere near as good as 2 years ago; "Paper Chase" with colleague Foxy Brown, whose friendship he has to share with nemesis Nas, has become quite good, but nothing compared to "Sunshine"; "Money Is not A Thing," which is to come out at a track with JD and another? Flat texts, but a very good party track. With "If I Should Die", "Reservoir Dogs" and "It's Alright" we had a few weaker songs, but does not fall due to the strong other particularly significant. Totaly applies to "Vol. 2" the same thing, as with almost all other albums by Jay-Z:. Good but not as good as Nas For Jigga fans certainly a must-have, all others should advance rather times listen.
