At the presentation:
CD 1 contains the original album, CD 2 consists of 11 (!) Other titles, all of which were taken from the recordings of the concert in 1978 in Cary / Il. Here Johnny Winter played with not live, he was there only in the recordings of the concert in Detroit in 1977. This is perhaps a pity, but not as bad as the shots are total class and represent an excellent addition to the original album.
The re-mastering has brought a positive and real improvement in the record; the sound is very tight and you think to be there live at the concert. The presentation of the CD corresponds to a De Luxe publication with original cover in folding format and a 24-page booklet, which tells the story of these recording sessions, thus making complete the enjoyment. Bob Margolin contributed also new photos of concerts brought (perhaps he should have chosen a few of them where it is not always represented in the picture - but a matter of taste).
Conclusion: An excellent CD of Muddy Waters, which is in the meantime 24 years old and has scheduled no little rust. Johnny Winter should have persuaded him in 1979 to publish this album immediately in the now (thankfully) as amended. If such treasures emerge after decades, one would hope that other musicians and bands finally tapes are released, just waiting to see the light of the music world. Nice that we have succeeded in Muddy Waters. He has certainly earned as a musician!
The other two albums with Johnny Winter I'm Ready (Expanded Edition) and King Bee (Expanded Edition) I can only recommend!
