Since yesterday is from the official soundtrack to the first film HOBBIT in stores. This appears as "Standard Soundtrack" and as a "Deluxe Edition". The "Deluxe Edition" got Besides expensive packaging some extended versions and three bonus tracks donated compared to the standard soundtrack. But this has to be published already in itself, selected composer and label but the variant, the soundtrack, with its 26 titles (!) On two CDs. Especially in the area of the soundtrack, where it often create only mutilated fragments of music to a disc, a welcome change!
The music itself met - to have seen even without the accompanying film - all expectations. Like no other (film) composer of our time takes Howard Shore his own subjects from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy again, merges these with newly created motifs - such as already known from the first trailer and catchy new theme - and done musically but an entirely different priorities than this in "Lord of the Rings" was still the case. The reasons are clear, so the first Hobbit film seems quite carefree therefore to come and this is reflected musically again - unlike "Lord of the Rings" where the War of the Ring and the omni-present threat-was omnipresent in the driving soundtrack. While remaining Middle-earth a place that involves both wondrous creatures numerous dangers, so sound in tracks like "An Ancient Evil" already first sounds of "Mordor" Themes and "Riddles in the Dark" already addresses the issue of "a ring" on. Particularly beautiful and almost nostalgically known are of course numerous variations on the "Shire" theme that dominate particular disc I. The dwarven items that are known from the "Lord of the Rings" soundtrack, among other things from Moria are ausgewitet musical, alongside the dark choral chants of depth but also develop the dwarf actor in their two songs "Blunt the Knives" (only Deluxe Edition) and the known from the trailer ballad "Misty Mountains" all the complexity between humorous pub songs and sad lament for the lost homeland. The somewhat habituation needy folk song credits from Neil Finn "Song of the Lonely Mountain" finally reaches out more verses of Dwarven song at the content level and the theme music. How do these and other tracks in the context of the film become final remains to be seen.
Conclusion: Howard Shore unfolds with the HOBBIT Soundtrack The musical spectrum of "Lord of the Rings" trilogy once more, but is in addition to the familiar themes on new trends and created again a leitmotif iconic. The result is so impressive work that belongs in the soundtracks of the highlights!
