I'm with You (CD)

Customer Review

In 2011, so that is left Red Hot Chili Peppers? 5 year absence, departure of guitarist John Frusciante, Flea on piano, Anthony with a mustache ... You can actually get away with a big a priori.

But the cake is finally here, Josh Klinghoffer replaced Frusciante off the cuff, and the album, to be told it from the beginning, is terrific.

In a typically Pop sound like the previous three, but far more original and worked the combo Californication, By The Way, Stadium Arcadium, without being bad, Pop Rock teenager lived too a group formerly purely Funk, and if it was missing no tube, one could see a sad stagnation. Here, if Pop is almost everywhere, the dynamic is different, and less oriented Teenager. Josh there is clearly no coincidence in the case.

I'm With You is the return of an old band now, a legend of music, and especially a new group. If you go on a comparison with the old albums or comparison Frusciante / Klinghoffer, you hate it and be disappointed, no doubt possible. Forget what you know about the group and take this as a new group, the way, and this is just my opinion, very good Strokes Angles.

What about Josh Klinghoffer? Well it turns out really well, better than most would have believed. Alas, the unpleasant impression that its volume was clamped on the album is there. Josh is not the mega fluid solo guitar hero has Frusciante is quite the opposite. His guitar sounds ghostly atmosphere, sometimes mysterious, and brings something unique in their sound. It's different, though sometimes in the style of John, and very interesting. It feels a little sore at ease again, the next album will probably be much easier for its part, its huge potential waiting to be used at full power. No disappointment on his side, but those waiting at the new solo Frusciante, go your way, the drums and bass are clearly more present.

The assumed Pop album is also more strongly tinged funk than the previous three, with a return of big bass lines of Flea which one loves so much.
The Disco Pop atmosphere next to a Sabbath Monarchy of Roses will make its effect, or "Factory of Faith", the right school of pure Red Hot carried by a bass line murders too. Did I Let You Know, Look Around, Dance Dance Dance, in a purely red hot next gen format, you will no doubt dance like a beautiful time.
Anthony returns to its original rap on a lot of pieces, without forgetting the most melodic vocals he uses for Under The Bridge. A return to tinted source of novelty, but not that.

Yes, some have piano piece, a very melancholy atmosphere and lyrics clearer than ever. Brendan's Death Song, very moving semi-acoustic ballad on his refrain, is a new step forward for the group, which has rarely been so touching for Under The Bridge. Police Station and its intro that will probably make you say "but I listen Red Hot there?" is surprising, the gentle melodies and texture of songs that not at all the same dynamic than other times, fault or grace Klinghoffer, you have to see, but we can not mock the group renew.

Few songs mouth hole, in my view at all, but of course everything will not like at all. Anyway, I'm With You is the return of a group that has almost disappeared from his guitarist, who has half a decade has emerged again, that was old, has mellowed, but which is still there, fresh as the 25-year youngster. Just see the energy that puts the band live now, they are always there, ready to blow us up in heart, to resume their refrain in chorus.
Josh, who has not yet shown the whole extent of his talent on the album, took over as nobody could do it, and if it has a thank y 'that's him. He brings energy and youth group needed to survive.

So yes, the album will no doubt controversial, and hated by many fans. Yes, solo guitar hero Frusciante disappeared. Yes, the new effort still needs to be transformed for a total perfection. Yes, they seem to good to educate their fifties teenager. But they are alive, ready to make dance on the planet Funky riff, and that is all that is asked of them after all.

I waited half a decade for this album. I was devastated by the departure of Frusciante. But the worst part is that I do not even have to be disappointed ... :)
