In addition, it is probably the only one of four "debut albums" published: The debut "The Soul Sessions" was intended as a sort of foretaste of the actual debut "Mind, Body and Soul"; the successor "Introducing ... Joss Stone" described the Englishwoman herself as her debut because she enjoyed creative freedom for the first time. And the new, now fifth album is titled "LP1". Makes sense, since it is the first release of Joss' own label Stone'd Records.
Everything is a bit confusing. And also in the list of celebrities with whom Joss has worked with just about 24 years now, together, is a dizzy: ranging from uestlove about Betty White and Common to Lauryn Hill and Nas The latest coup:. Dave Stewart has "LP1 "co-produced and almost all the ten songs co-written. Since there can not really go wrong not much.
Do not do it. Has Joss on the last two albums "Introducing ..." and "Colour Me Free" still experimenting with different sounds, limited "LP1" on essentials: after eight years still amazing voice, a couple of guitars, bass here and there and drums, occasionally backing singers that's about it. This simplicity succeeds Joss and her team almost, the magic of "The Soul Sessions" recapture of all moved into its spell in 2003.
The focus of the album is very clear voice, and rightly so: You would not really have believed it possible, but Joss sounds better than ever. Adult. Sexy. This voice and a guitar, more is no longer needed for a good song actually.
But lyrically, the young talent has clearly evolved.
"LP1" is classic, simple, unfussy. Joss reinvents itself not new, but a better start for her label she would have wished hardly. Playing tips? "Karma", "Cry Myself to Sleep" and "Take Good Care".
