Inside (in the package) we went then equal. Film already torn. According to the manual da ne driver CD (for older Windows versions) should be accompanied by = nil.
So housing rausgeholt times from anyway halboffenenen film. First impression = dibasic. Slightly different design than here in the pictures, but I like it even better. Slightly edgier and without those ugly ventilation slots.
But ...
2 thick scratches on the "(?) New" unused item (see pictures) - so that will not do. I hate something like that. There is no objection to Retoured Sales but when I order new goods in unopened original packaging, then I expect those. Here I feel cheated easily. Declared it as B-Stock with a corresponding reduction and a good thing it - but send easy times and hope that it accept the people I find is a piece of wide fraud.
The installation of Seagate Barracuda XT 3TB HDD proceeded more or less smoothly. The housing is easy to open (4 Phillips screws), the enclosed mini screwdriver but not suited for it. The screws are tightened, which is the little here simply no chance. Use a screwdriver for adults we went without any problems.
Inside the housing is the usual small SATA board, with power and USB 3.0 ports. Moreover, there is nothing in the case.
For mounting there are "only" two plastic rails that do not come into the holes of the HDD entspechenden fit in the otherwise (in the PC) the screws. If you push the whole now in the housing, locked up all by itself and the HDD sits loose laid on the right site. However, the insertion is quite difficult and for the last part of one can not help the hard disk together with the already plugged board to continue to slide into the housing. Because this is very difficult, I was already in custody that could take this damage. Having to give so much effort on such a fragile board I think is more than questionable.
Plan B would be the HDD by "back" to push into the case, while the front board is already screwed. That reminds me the plastic rails not made the allerpräzisesten impression and I therefore could not rely on it myself / wanted the HDD then at the end of the force act too precise and flying blind inside docks onto the board - I entschieben me for Option A. Because it can be so hard anyway push, I could have difficult to distinguish whether it actually forwards degree does not fit and is canted or whether it is 'normal' to overcome resistance, which has then been annoyed me the whole driveway.
In addition, damage (to the outer existing damage) I did not want the product. So to me it was important that the board is seated and I reasonably control over the reserve in case everything is in place.
Ultimately, everything fell into place. Plugged in my case as an external HDD on my SAT receivers for PVR functions. The receiver has the plate immediately recognized format - and the first shot has already worked out fine.
Since no fan is installed, the housing itself is very quiet. The hard drive is almost inaudible. A bit annoying is the blue power LED that flashes now permanently halt under the TV at all read-write access - which I will probably have to mask off, but that's more a personal preference as the device due. In another setting, next to the PC, for example, you want to maybe just see something is happening.
I can not say anything about the in USB 3.0 enclosures not inconsiderable speed aspects. If I then times on the PC have rüberzuholen to the recordings I will report how it behaves with the transfer rates.
Resume, the article is ansich ok - but for business manner (me) an article declared Neu send in a state I can only describe as "scratched customer returns" - that just messed up my tach. The missing driver CD is (for me) not the end, I put on it the Windows 7 the part already recognizes even without CD. But, they lack maintenance - and thus it is a further indication that this was not here (in my case) to new.
UPDATE:
CSL has made every effort to make amends this incident. With the second (! Free) replacement I have now a proper, external enclosure - which quite meet my expectations and also meets the specifications given full justice.
