I have the record now for a short time. Although it has no fan, it is not described as noise or even silent as in Test`s. It emits a continuous sound, even if not they are accessed. The supplied cables are long enough, if you have the disk very close to the device. Plate has now (August 2014), given up the ghost after less than 3 years. I have them, not used very intensively in my opinion!
